I know it"s been said a bunch before but, I"ll say it again this is a great site . just wanted to take a min. to say THANK-YOU for all the posts and replys , especially from the seinors out there. sure is nice to hear from real people out there about thier adventures ( wild blue & the like) & expierence,. I kinda grew up in the satelite generation,and like hearin from thoes who didn"t , must have been a different world in the fog with NO screen to tell you where to go , or a computer or cell phone for info. so, from a fellow boater and a (brat wanna be ) once again a heartfelt thanks +respect! must be gettin soft in my old age gonna hit the big 40 next year . look forward to meeting some of u at ches. bay , can"t wait to retire and take some long cruises wiht ya ...........john

When you come to the Chesapeake Bay gathering you will meet an astonishing variety of C Dory and Ranger people..from all walks of life.
Both the site, and the people,live up to the quality you want to find in fellow boat owners.

That's a nice sentiment, John... but who the hell are you calling senior??? :twisted: I'll have you know that I can't even get a discount at Denney's yet! Having fun with these boats isn't about being retired, it's more of a state of mind.

We thought we were speedsters before getting this boat... no not the fuel burning, wake makin', ear-drum splitting cigarette type boats, but on multihull sailboats (sometimes known as the outlaw biker types of the sailing world :roll: ). With these boats (the C-Dorys and the tugs), it isn't about how fast you can get from point A to point B, but the good times you create along the way. We've met plenty of C-Brats both younger and older than we are... but I rarely notice their age; we have a bond that goes beyond satellite navigation or sextants... we know the fun of seeing what's around the next point or anchoring in that quiet cove.

You can have an adventure in a weekend... or bore yourself to tears over months. We each get 1440 minutes a day to spend... no roll-overs or saving 'em up. The Brats we've met know how to spend those minutes. Yep, a damn fine bunch!

Gotcha yer drift, i also enjoy every second i get on the water. by the way at around 90 MPH ! she barley makes a ripple on water never mind a wake. never could understand a 10 mph speed limit on most canals for bank erosion problems ,( saftey mabey) ever notice how huge a wake a planning hull can make above displacement speed, way more than when at a min planning speed. Think i worded the seinor thing wrong , not at all what i intended , no disrespect intended to any one ,in fact my intentions were just the oppisite,pretty sure you were just kiddin , i hope .... :embarrased ..........john :beer :beer

:shock: OMG 90MPH in a canal.... :disgust Could it possibly be for safety reasons as well as erosion? Do us a favor John, when you come to Langford Bay, leave your Dragboat in NY!! I'll give you a ride in a TC255, 40 is fast enough for me!! (And not in a canal!!) :lol:

Charlie, I"ve probably never been over 6 to 7 mph. in the nys canals,there the only ones i have ever been in most of it is posted at 10 mph or no wake. Fast boats have enough of a bad rep. to bad it"s not the boats that deserve it, it"s usually the idiots fly"n by people at close proximity to boaters & thier familys that i think just don"t understand how dangerous it can be. god forbid a steering ram lettin go or throttle stickin , without enough sea room around ya it"s downright dangerous ! In fast poker runs there is a mandtory saftey meeting , unsafe- . sea - room and bunching up is not tolerated. i"ve never raced my boat in a sancioned event (yet!) , but attend as many races as i can , i have some friends who race & got to throttle once in NJ back in 97, you would be suprized how saftey relaited it is . wish i had a buck for every time some inexperienced operator of a high $$$ fiberglass torpedo came flyin over my transom a coupple feet away or less to drag race cause they see you cruisin at 75 or so with a helmet on , SCARES THE U-KNOW WHAT outta me ! believe me i"d love to clean thier clock but always shut down and spin to port or starboard , sometimes they come back to see if i blew a motor or something & i have no problem tellin em how dangerous such actions can be! especially the ones with a beer in every cup holder , don"t make a lot of friends that way but i don"t care . deep v"s & cats are hittin speeds today that were unheard of a few years back, which is alright with me but the lack of training and responsibilty just don't seem to be catchin - up . hope to never see speed limits on most of our waterways , but some of the non-sense i"ve seen tells me it may be commin ( hope not) BTW i do have a true story how fast speed can get you out of a state troopers speeding ticket ,(even the sun shines on a dogs ass every now & then ) if any one wants to hear it?i blew enough hot air for one post i guess. thanks for the laughs guys safe boating to all.///////// john
