Tender

Looking for a tender for the new 2007. I have had an Alaskan Series before and remember it to be a solid boat. However, it's been a very long time since. Anyone have input? I need to be able to transport from the home base either via the back of the pick up bed or cockpit as I'll be on the freeway. Once in the water I'd prefer to be able to plane so store it up top or tow if possible. What have you used in the past? Thoughts, comments and recent experience. Also I am considering an electric outboard for power as a zero maintenance, no noise, etc.

A ten foot inflatable with air floor would fit the bill for 3 adults and dog. The Achillies LSI. 290 or 310 E would be my choice. Both are rated for 4 persons. Both have load capacity over 1100 lbs.

We have used the Torqeedo electric motor about 8 years and love it. You are limited to non planing speeds. Even with a 10 hp you will probably have trouble planning the boat with 3 adults and a dog aboard.

We had a 12 1/2 RIB with either a 25 hp or 15 hp. If we had 4 and wanted to plane, we used the 25 hp.

Both of these boats weight about 80#, so I suggest the Garhauer Davit system to put the boat on the roof. (see in my album how it is used and attached).

There are other options, such as the Saturn K boat series. There are also less expensive air floor boats. I strongly recommend the air floor over a wooden or aluminum floor, which are difficult to put together on a C Dory.

This works for storage, you might want the next size up for 3 adults. This one is the same as the Alaskan, just built by a different factory so he had to use a different name. Wolverine. Works for me. A great stable, durable inflatable.
