TC 24 For sale in Ft Meyers FL

Congratulations on a fine boat, as we can and do attest. Look forward to seeing you on the Harbor sometime. We are full time employed, with still one teenager left at home, and more things that need done than time allows, we get out as often as we can. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about the TC24. We have owned ours since July 2002, did all our own warranty work, been all over Florida from Crystal River to the Dry Tortugas, to the Bahamas, the interior St.Johns and just completed the South Florida Loop. We love the boat and are very comfortable on it. Not a lot of mystery to the boat and one of it's finest features, in the original C-Dory tradition, is that less is best, keep it simple kind of thing. In my mind, that is one area where the 24 beats the 255. Not to say that having a shower on board wouldn't be nice, but not a deal breaker. Like the one guy says in his signature, we live where the "water is never less than 65 degrees", though personally, I never get wet until the water hits 72. You made a great deal and I can't see how you could go wrong. Once a again, welcome to the Brats, they are one of a kind (especially here).
 
Thanks James. Actually you and I have talked, and we are almost neighbors. We are in the Meadows. A couple of years ago I stopped and you visited with me about the TC. I've been looking since early 05 and ended up buying a Sea Cat. A couple of weeks ago I stopped over again as we were considering this boat to talk to you and ended up visiting with your son. It was obvious that Travis enjoys boating and has learned alot about the TC from you. He had all good answers that evening. I also agree and believe in the KISS theory, keep it simple stupid. Less to go wroing. Sometime I'd like to stop over and look at how you built your shade visor on the exterior.

I finially got around and posted a couple of pictures of our Tomcat we got a couple of weeks ago along with a modified picture of how we hope the new name will look. I am amazed at how much good information flows from all your posts and intent to use some of ideas for future projects and improvements to Argo.....................chris
 
Chris: Contrats on your boat. Nice job! I owned a TC-24 for some time and loved it. I loved mine, and looking back at all my boats, the mix of economy, room, room, room, economy and ease of use on the waters... there have been days I wish I still had FreeByrd tied. up in front of Mom's house. Sweet boat.. with twin 90 Hondas...and they were great too.

Downside was the trailer set up...or lack there of. But, when working on the TC255, with feedback from several of us who currently owned the TC24, and looking at some other cat designed trailers....they have good trailers out there for them..... not all of them...but some of them are sweet trailer set ups too. There are some who still cut corners on the trailers....and try to use a pontoon boat trailer set up.....and that ain't right.

Happy cruising...and who knows.... we may splash a few boats down there in your area.....and get out and have some fun.

Byrdman...............so did you keep the trailer that came with the TC24, get a different one or make changes in it. I have a Float ON alu trailer for my 25' SeaCat that I am now trying to sell that I have been thinking about keeping and making some changes needed and keeping it for the CDory instead of the galvinized Majic Tilt that come with it. I just put all new tires on it and redid the brakes. I like the winch better on the Float on also. Only problem is that the SeaCat won't go on the Majic Tilt trailer or I for sure would change them. I'm always open to ideas for the boat and/or the trailer. Thanks...............chris
 
My neighbor has a magic tilt for a Tom Cat 24, and in comparison to my Float on Trailer, I would much rather keep the Float on!. I suspect that you can modify the Magic tilt for the Sea Cat, with some creative work.

The comment about the name, is that I probably would put the name all of the hull. It looks like the boat is an "Argo" brand, named "the nomad" by splitting the name...
 
Problem is the SeaCat is about 2500# heavier than the TC24. I suppose I could add an axle!

Actually in regards to the name, the only reason I'm leaving Nomad on is because I have never had any luck removing a name and not being able to see it for ever in the gel coat. If it wasn't for that it would just be Argo.
 
Greetings: I have used the original trailer with my 1997 TomCat 24 with no issues save that the boat is high on the trailer and needed a steep launch incline to float off the trailer. I fixed that two ways. I substituted a longer tongue, to get the boat deeper when launching and recovering. And, I installed a second winch on the back of the front winch stand that runs a line to the back of the trailer around a pulley wheel and back to the front. When the boat is just not floating enough to launch, I connect the line to the front center bow eye and winch it right off. Works great when you are forced to launch at low tide, too. This second winch works because of the empty space between the twin hulls. Happy TomCatting, TWO-DAWGS.
