Suzuki Motors

Hi folks,
I heard yesterday (I think) that Suzuki Automobiles would no longer be sold in the USA and I was wondering if Suzuki Boat motors was also pulling sales out of the USA? Does anyone have the answer yet? Thanks, Jim

From the Guardian:

The Japanese company said on Tuesday it would use a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing by its US subsidiary in federal court in California to shut down the car business and focus instead on sales of motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and boats.

Happy to see Suzuki will stay in OB engines, since I have two and think it's a great engine - the 90hp, haven't run my new 2.5 yet. No surprise about the cars as I don't recall seeing a Suzuki car for years.

Just to reiterate-

Suzuki remains committed to marine. ATV and motorcycle sales in the US, and it is basically business as usual for us dealers.

Suzuki's line of cars sells well internationally, but hasn't done well is the US. Too small.

I certainly hope Suzuki stays and makes it in the outboard and motorcycle business. They've had a rough few years selling bikes. They pulled out of a few racing series, and slowed down the flow of new models, though this year has seen a good selection of new bikes.

Some years ago when I was researching to buy a new motor for my boat I was told that Suzuki made and sold more outboards in the world than all of the manufacturers world wide combined. Could that still be a true statement???

I elected to buy a Honda as the Suzuki dealer here in Alaska closed shop and there was no service. They have since reopened and apparently doing well as there are many Suzukis again. Even the charter boats are using them, double 225's.
