My 2007 CD 22 has a bowmar hatch in the front deck. I've been careful to not put my 200 lbs on the hatch. Does anyone have any experience with breaking these hatches? Am I being more careful than need be?

We probably have the same hatch on our 2006. I am always very careful to neither step on nor sit on that hatch. They cost around $200 and would be a pain to replace. So, I vote for being extra careful.

I have stepped on mine, both on the 22 and the TC but very carefully and tried to be "light". I'd be careful. Not only are they expensive but you could cut yourself very seriously if you went through it with a foot/leg.

I have owned these type of hatches for over 40 years--and never broken one. I weight about 180 lbs currently--and have been as much as the mid 190/s and stepped on them regularly. I expect if you jumped on one with your spiked heels you might break them. But they are quite strong.

I wouldn't jump on one hard, but I'm guessing they would take 250 pounds and more easily if stepped on gingerly.

I had to re-bed the plastic into the aluminum frame on the one on my Sea Ray, and the plastic seemed very strong.

Another good reason to stay off: avoid scratching/marring the surface with your shoes and/or the dirt on the hatch, or imbedded on the soles of your shoes.
