Anyone taken the wood off the rails and converted to stainless. I am thinking the top rails are in need of replacing. It would be great if someone had already taken that step before me. [/list]

Find out who the factory uses for hand rails now. Call them on the phone, don't send an Email. While you're at it, bolt some new grabs inside the cabin, to the same bolts.

in my 1992 boat I pulled the wooden rails, and then sanded them, used a finish and rebedded with 5200. Unless they are broken, they can be cleaned up. I doubt that the SS railing bolt pattern fits. You can have custom rails made--but expensive.

I was going to take them off and make some new ones out of starboard. but after pressure washing and sanding they cleaned up like new. now I am just waiting on the home depo in town to get teak oil back in stock, told one more week :x. so Now I am planning on keeping wood. but am still going to replace teak door with starboard.

when we were brainstorming how to replace at first we thought of stainless. and to get the holes lined up you could start with a base plate and match the holes to that and then weld your new stainless replacement to that. just an option.

I will say the ones I was going to replace were covered with about 4-6" of mold/ moss growth and was shocked at how well they have cleaned up, when I figured they were toast.
