SPOT device

Does anyone know what's going on with the SPOT tracking people. I can't see where I've been charged for my service, and all three inquiries I've made have been ignored. Is this company still alive?

I have not checked with them lately, but I know from past experience, that they put a charge onto the credit card that was used to start the service, without contacting the owner/user regarding future preferences. This charge is usually put on (at least on mine), the end of December, which is my annual renew date. It may be at a different time for those who did not start at Christmas, like at their purchase or start date anniversary.

I think the SPOT device folks learned customer service (like returning e-mail inquiries) from the previous factory folks. Fear not, you won't hear from them at renewal time, other than the charge simply showing up on your credit card. I REALLY like the device, not so enthralled with their customer service. I think they had a BIG influx of service purchasers early on and then quite a few non-renewals... except you signed on for auto billing with no notification.

I went round and round with them last year when I purchased a subscription for a Christmas gift. After innumerable phone calls to SPOT and promises that they didn't keep, I simply called AMEX and told them not to pay SPOT's bill. AMEX said they had an agreement with SPOT (as well as with many other companies) to deny payment at the customer's request, without any further reason.
