This is a never used trailer dolly. Handles up to 600lbs. tongue weight. It sells for about $50 at Harbor Freight. Fully assembled. You can have it for a small (or large) donation to C-Brats. I won't ship it. You can pick it up or I'll deliver it (free) in the Seattle area.

Now there is a deal. That should have a half life of about 12 minutes. If I lived up there you would be walking to your front door now.

Marty,

Hope you and your better half are well and making it thru the windy, wet, dark, and dreary weather. We can't wait for (hopefully) better weather in another few months. Afraid we are pretty wimpy fair weather boaters!

Any idea as to the approximate tongue weight involving a CD Venture 23' on a trailer?

I am afraid I have no clue if a supported tongue weight of 600 lbs would be sufficient to handle a Venture 23' verses a much lighter CD 16 cruiser.

Such a tool would be very helpful in allowing us to move our boat and trailer around in its off-season warehouse storage. We were hoping to head up to Port Angeles (where the warehouse is) to get the boat out of storage this coming weekend to subsequently deliver it to Port Townsend's Westside Marine for its annual outboard maintenance.

The warehouse is a bit crowded (many other toys have moved into the warehouse since our boat was placed there) so moving it around in the warehouse would indeed be simplified if this dolly could handle the Venture's weight.

Take care,
Dan

Assuming (and we know where that gets us) 5,000 to 5,500 all up weight on the boat and trailer (and I think that might be a big high), and 10% tongue weight, the 600 lb should handle it.

Disclaimer: I am not an engineer (they don't even let me ride on the train). This is just a WAG. I don't work for Brunswick, nor are my pockets deep. In fact, I don't even have pockets. So, if this doesn't work for you, then tough beans. Keep the tongue jack most of the way down and if it fails, the trailer won't crash to the ground. Not that I think it's gonna. Just saying. Not giving advice here. I better not say anymore, my attorney is in South Korea right now.

Based on my expert engineering advice from James on Wild Blue (what the heck, you spelled engineer correctly so you are obviously far more qualified then I am), I will indeed take Marty up on his offer.

A cash donation to the C-Brats gods is on its way.

Tanks,
Dan

Ok, it's 'sold' to the nice couple in the Venture 23. :peace:

Darn, when I saw the title, I was hoping for one of these....

Now that would call for a BIG donation....

Ooooooooh Charlie! That was close. I saw your pic on my phone and had to zoom it up to see she was indeed wearing a top. No problem because I was wanting to zoom anyway.

What a bunch of great folks on here. Thanks Marty and Dan!

Actually, Bill (DaNag), has one of these!

The Dolly, that is.............er, the mechanical one, though I think his may be a gas powered one, maybe even a Honda (?) Vroom,...,Vroom,...Vroom.....!

Well, if ya' can't get the real thing.............................!

I hear they're very useful for backing a heavy boat up a steep driveway and/ or around curves,.....cement curves, that is...(trying to stay on topic)!

Joe. :thup

To anybody who may be interested, this trailer dolly (the hand cart, not the scantily clothed but much more attractive model) is once again available.

I will pass this on to anybody who might want it for free (C-Brats tip jar donation would be welcome as always).

Marty passed this along to me previously but, regrettably, I found it inadequate for our Venture 23' due to the hand carts trailer ball being too low for our trailer.

Perhaps somebody w/ more engineering ability then myself (which means just about anybody breathing!) would be able to use this successfully after rigging up something to get the ball higher.

It would likely be more useful for slightly smaller C-Dory models such as the 16's and 19's.

Anyway, I will be glad to haul this over to the upcoming SBS CBGT if anybody is interested but would rather not wind up bringing it home if nobody claims it.

I will also post this on the SBS C-Brats thread.

Anyway, the admiral says its gotta go ... taking up valuable garage space so speak up if you are interested.

Take care,

Dan, you're keeping that in a GARAGE?.......oh, now after reading the whole text, I get it, you're not talking about the scantily clad one. :embarrased

FYI, on a serious note for those interested in the "manual wheeled dolly", I had one very similar years ago and found that it didn't work well in moving my 22' Cruiser and Trailer. (Because I had to lower the tongue of the trailer so low, there was too much tongue weight to move the boat and trailer even on a smooth level concrete surface). Perhaps if I had a single axle trailer, it might work, but I agree with Dan it is most likely more useful for a 16' and possibly a 19 foot. Most certainly, Dan's price is right for a fellow C-Brat.
