SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

I try to do a little every week to keep the boat all set and ready to go...today I picked up a bracket I had made for my swim ladder....like Fishtales had made for his boat....mine is a bit different.

I had a four step ladder off the stern that worked fine, except ya had to climb over all the motors and junk.... now using the bracket I can get into the boat from the side.... it goes into one of the scotty fish holders ....and allows the ladder to be mounted off the side without touching the boat... (except at the bottom where it is padded)

I will put a picture in my photo section..

We took the boat to the dealer to get the snaps put on the boat for the cockpit cover (we snitched it out of their hands as soon as they'd transferred all the stuff from the old boat last spring to cure our withdrawals), get the motors maintenanced and THEN by the time we get her back, maybe the water will be more conducive to some sturgeon fishing at the mouth of the Willamette!

BTW, Sportcraft Marina office is sitting several feet higher -- their parking lot is nearly submerged and the ramp is a straight walkway...not a downhill walk! The falls aren't falling much :wink

Hi Jim & Joan,
Great Pics. We are on our way to south Tx to look around for some good boating we do not have our C-Dory with us. We will be about 25 miles from Brownsville for 3 to 4 weeks. If we can find a good place to stay we will come back with the C-Dory. We should be in Tx. in about 2 days

Hi Pandy Girl Crew,

Feel free to drop me a PM. I will be happy to give you any local information I can. We have some friends visiting this week, and will have family coming this weekend, but we'd enjoy a get-together if we can make the timing work.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

We took some sailing friends out today on Wild Blue. I kinda expected the "yeah, it's nice for a powerboat" response, but they were down right impressed. In fact, my buddy's wife said, "If you get a boat like this, I'd go out with you more often." ;) We got 'em a good dolphin show and a sunset before heading out for real Mexican food this evening. We may have another "convert" here.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Jim, way to go. You're getting to be a pretty good pitchman for C-Dory!

BTW, did you get a chance to see the pic of you, Joan, Caryn and myself from Lopez last summer. Here it is in case you missed it.

Jim and Joan, I'm just now stumbling across your excellent photos and description of the New Year's Celebration down there in Texas. As usual, it makes us dream of spring and summer!

John

Hi Peter,

Sure, we got to see that - even have one from our camera that your folks took, too! :D I'm thinking that would be a much prettier photo if those two guys on the ends were cropped out.

My neighbor is a boat builder... he offered me a job after I gave him the "tour" of Wild Blue; asked if I wanted to do boat demos for him.

I'm working on trying to overcome my shyness. 8) This is a great boat, and I don't care who knows it!

Best wishes,
Jim

Brent and Dixie on Discovery (Plus Brents sister and Husband) were all at Camp "Thataway" when I arrived from the West Coast last night. The Admiral Marie (of thataway) had moved our trucks and RV's for the Discovery crew before I arrived. We all had a wonderful dinner (with another couple who have a Tiaria 42 and are passing thru the area).

This AM we compared Tom Cats and watched a demonistration of the "Tom Cat black water pump out"--pretty impressive. I watched from about 20 feet away--but all went well, and no "spills" Brent is onto something which works for the "Camper" version of the boat.

We had a wonderful time visiting with all! Brent and Dixie and really fixed up their boat very well.

Bob, now you've got me wondering..... Has Brent figured out a way to dump the black tank when the unit is on the trailer? I'd like to hear more about that.

John

Today I was inspired to post to this thread. My wife, a guest and I left Port Townsend (WA) to go accross the bay to get a cup of coffee, an easy short trip. We left in sunlight, and then, on the way back, we ran into heavy snow squalls! My first time out in a blizzard! With reduced visibility, we slowed down, and found our way in, on GPS.

With our mild temps, I like to go out every so often in mid winter. The Wallas makes it pleasant.

Earlier this week C-Brats emwave, that's Dave and Pam, came over to the house to see Valkyrie, get the tour and ask questions about C-Dorydom.

We had a great time getting acquainted and to stave off the cold I had the Wallas fired up, coffee on and pastries ready. Spent a few hours talking C-Dorys.

Very nice folks and I hope to get them out on the water in the spring.

Christmas in January!

My buddy who is visiting wanted to go for a sail today, so we took the SunCat out. Another "Chamber of Commerce" day: sunny, temp in the low 70s, wind 8-12. The sailing was fine and my buddy bought the pizza when we came back in.

When we got back to the house, Joan told me I had two packages waiting, both from C-Brat folks. The new steering wheel hub from David looks great! I put it on as soon as I opened the package. Thank you, David!

And tonight, I will be "cruising on the Erie Canal" thanks to the DVD from Don! My sincere thanks, as the NY Canal System is on our "must do" list.

What a great place this is! :D

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Thanks Jim B. Just love tose pictures of life in the sun.

You will no doubt be dlighted to know that the weather rin Seattle is still weird.
Yesterday we launched in Oak Harbor at 23 degrees after running the Wallas all night to defrost the bilge pumps.
You may think we are mad but we were were designated as rescue boat for a bunch of lunatics from our yacht club who race 12ft sailing dinghys all winter long (Pelicans, of Californian Origin)
So we got a 20 mile round trip in snow and freezing fog followed by a Darwin award winning session with low tide, shallow ramp and an icy trailer watched by a couple of professional crab fiahermen and a game warden who could not believe that we had been out for any reason other than fishing.
Even so it was damn good to get out on the water.

What we had not counted on was a brand new layer of ice on the road for the trip home. Frightened the Admiral and the guys behind me by doing power slides up the hill to our house (not intentional !!)

Even funnier was today's session of trying to get the road gunk and ice off the boat and trailer. Sub zero pressure washing is real fun !!

Keep those fun and sun picture coming......

Merv & Kathy & if you are wondering why I can't type it's 'cos my fingers are frozen !!!

Yes,
Brent has a way of dumping the black water--and demonistrated into our RV pumpout.

It involves a SS pipe which fits inside of the thru hull, a paper towel, gloves, a plastic "el" and about 8 feet of 3" diameter RV hose. Not a drop spilled. I will make one--hopefully Brent will post his photos when he gets a chance--I don't want to steel his thunder....

Bob

I'll be looking forward to hearing about that black tank dumping solution.

Yesterday we took some family out on Wild Blue, today it was more friends. I'd have to check the logbooks, but I think we've now taken more people out on Wild Blue in the last couple months than we did our sailboats in the past couple years. More people definitely connect with these boats.

Yesterday we had some drizzle with our warm temps (close to 80º); five of us were dry and comfortable. Today, we started in the sunshine and finished in a light rain, with 4 aboard. This boat continues to impress. The last two days are the only time this season that we haven't seen dolphins, but the company was good, the sight-seeing fun, and a great time on the water.

The cold stuff is supposed to make it's way here tomorrow. Our company is now all gone, and we'll wait until it looks good across the northern Gulf, get the motor serviced, and head out towards the Keys!

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Yesterday, we picked up the CatyMae from Sportcraft, brought her home and backed her into her home port. Tried to open the lazarette to get some power to put the motor down...frozen solid. I had to get water and pour it on there while Steve pounded the ice away enough to get it opened! We're ready for some less frigid temperatures!!! Jim, can you send us some of those 80 degrees? :smilep
