small water heater for 22' c-dory

We have even used sun showers (solar) in all sizes from a quart (squeeze type of hand held) up to the 10 gallon one with a foot pump. Agree that one can get a good shower with 1 gallon if well organized.

We also keep a 3 gallon insectide pressurized spray container in the cockpit for washing off feet and legs (plus the dogs) as we board.

Another rig we have, is a Jabsco diaphragm pump, with about 6 feet of pickup and outlet hose. This has alligator clamps for any 12 volt power source. Many times in freshwater rivers, we just pump the water from the river up directly and wrinse off with it (the soaping phase when swimming). This same pump can act as an emergency bilge or suction pump to get the last amount of liquid out of the cabin, since it is self priming, and will put out a good head of pressure, or pick up 6 feet above the water level.

hi doc,
hope your day is going well.
not sure about the water conditions in your neck of the woods, but can tell you for sure, the ohio river is not what one would ordinarily bath in or with. things in this river glow.
we're leaving for lake cumberland this evening after work, will measure up the space where i'd mount the hot water heater and see if i can manage an electrical system. should be neat and clean as well as orderly.

best regards
pat

We try and boat in swimable waters: Most of our time is Gulf Coast, Florida, Inland Lakes and Rivers (not polluted), including Lake Powell, and S. Calif. S. Calif, and the PNW are too cold for us as we have aged, but with solar heat, one can still use the salt water on the swim step....

Have a good trip on Lake Cumberland!

On the 22 cruiser do you folks shower in the cockpit and just let the bilge pumps pump it out?

In the summer what about keeping a few 20 gallon tall plastic drums on the port and starboard stern painted black to absorb heat and use a 12v pump and a hand held shower head?

For that matter a tank could be on the hardtop with gravity feed

It's amazing what you folks do on a 22' boat :thup
