I would like to thank all the C-brats that came by our booth to both encourage us and to talk to us about their and our C-Dory's. I appreciate your comments on Matt's thread about our 22' Cruiser that Kitsap was showing and thank you for your insight. I agree that the aft hatches (Battery access) are small and we are looking into something different, and I think that a different step arrangement might be beneficial as well.

I would like to reiterate that I scan this site weekly and yes I realize that I do not post every week however I do read most threads. My philosophy has already been written here but due to a recent thread, it obviously bears repeating, I think that this site has provided us a leg up on previous owners as it has allowed me to sidestep certain build designs that either do not work or are not "right" for the boat. I appreciate everybody's input when I have posted questions, and the pictures that I have received related to my questions have always been spot on. Continue to do what you do C-brats as your little site has paid BIG dividends to us.

Again thank you to all that came by the Sea Sport booth and as the show went much better than last year, may we finally be able to take a deep breath and look forward to a relatively even-keel 2010.

Sincerely,

Scott Boysen

Scott, thanks for your post!! We've been to the SBS a number of times but didn't make it this year. You will learn a lot by reading this site, lots of ideas, mostly good and well thought out. If previous Factory Owners had listened more, they might have lasted longer but it wouldn't have stopped the recession!!

Good luck and keep us up to date on your ideas and plans, please.

Charlie

Hi Scott,

Nice to see you post here. I hope you know that my "A lesson to be learned..." thread had very little to do with Sea Sport and a lot to do with business philosophy in general and the previous C-Dory factory folks in particular. Except for Joe and Pat here, it isn't a contest to see who posts the most. (That's a tongue-in-cheek comment, by the way.)

I'm sure all the boat owners here wish you success with the C-Dory and Sea Sport lines. You folks are obviously aware of the history of this unique boat and I have no doubt that you will make 'em good. I was excited to see Sea Sport pick up the C-Dory molds and name. A good builder and a proven product bring a strong force to the market.

Just like the C-Dory is unique in the grand scheme of all things boating, this forum is something special. We've had the pleasure of meeting many of the folks who participate here... many diverse personalities who all share a passion for our C-Dorys. I hope the opportunity will come up that we will get to meet face-to-face so I can shake your hand and you can see the gleam in my eyes when we talk about our boat. The Seattle Boat Show is a bit far for us (2600 miles), but we've enjoyed reading about those who attended.

I hope this year brings that "even keel" business climate for all concerned. Having owned several businesses, I learned that many of our most successful campaigns came from customer suggestions. There were times when I didn't want to "tip my hand" to competitors, and times when I asked former customers "What can we do to make our product better for you?" Having a built-in cheering section/sounding board/think tank/focus group can be very helpful or really frustrating, depending on the relationship. The owners here want to see you be very successful with "our" C-Dorys.

The fact that a couple folks did ask if Sea Sport was listening could be considered a dig OR something to learn from. We know you're a busy guy and these are trying times. You've posted 8 times in 9 months. We get the fact that you don't have time to post 8 times a day. Imagine what sales would be like if every C-Dory owner only used their boat 8 times in any given year... people wouldn't get the exposure to these boats. There would be less incentive to buy. Lots of used boats would go on the market because of lack of interest. Or maybe a perceived lack of interest. I guess it depends on the perspective.

Just one voice on this little forum, but one who's cheering you on.

Best wishes,
Jim Bathurst

Jim is correct, not a dig on anyone, just a business practice. I purchased my used 22 over the summer from Boondocks Boats which is the SS dealer in Bellingham, and I will be the first to say that dealing with Jon Lindhout was a great experience, so I would expect that kind of support on the factory side also.

Scott, just asking us questions while building your first 22 means a lot, not just from getting info from us, but that you also listened to us.

Crazy... I often talk with about 5-6 C-Brats that I travel with from time to time. Many read...few post any more.

Great to see a few words from the factory. Keep up the good work.

Scott,

Thank you for showing up here again. It is good to know that you do see what's going on here even if you do not post every day. It was also great to see you and your boats at the SBS. We did wander buy, and took a quick look at the Sea Sport collection, but (forgive me), since we already own an 05 C-Dory Cruiser, our primary interest was around the corner.

We appreciate your efforts in continuing the C-Dory line and hope to see it continue for a long time. I know there are considerable manufacturing challenges in their production, (hours more in assembly) and can understand needs to keep costs in check. Maybe as you and your team become more familiar, there will be ways that become more obvious.

The 22 is not a large boat, so storage and access are at a premium. On SleepyC, we run 2 Group 27 Deep Cycle batteries. I would venture a guess that they would not go into those current laz covers, even standing straight up on end. Since you mentioned looking at alternatives, here is a link to the thread where some of us have addressed the problem:

http://www.c-brats.com/viewtopic.php?t= ... tte+covers

Hope that can save you some time and trouble.

We met and talked for a time at the Bellingham CBGT. You told us you were committed to the C-Dory line. Thanks you, and now you are showing us the "pudding" (as in "...the proof is in the ...."

Thank again, and we wish you ever more continued success,

Harvey
