Costs of materials going up, taxes going up, wages going nowhere...I think our standard of living will never be as good as what we have been enjoying.

I guess that depends on how one measures "standard of living"? There was a time I had more net worth than currently. But, I am certainly enjoying the "living" these days even more. I agree that, for most people, their buying power has flattened or lessened over the past few years. Those may be people without boats. 8)

Consumer confidence is still low. Even people whose income has not decreased and aren't under the cloud of losing the job are holding back on purchases. That continues to impact the economy.

I marvel at the bright spots in the otherwise dismal marine industry... manufacturers like Ranger who are getting orders. What are they doing different or better than other manufacturers?

To get back ON-TOPIC regarding rumors and Sea Sport, I heard that aliens have cloned the DNA of Elvis and impregnated a Sea Sport boat...is it true it will be called... "A Hunka Hunk of Burnin' Boat"??

Just "takin' care of business." Thank you... thank you very much, darlin'.

Hummm,,, I had to read that one a time or two Charlie.

Must be some sort of aircraft carrier talk??

So, what color do you wear when you talk like that?

Hi,
After some water boarding of the same aliens Jim Bxxxx spoke to we have some hear say information that S.S. will be coming out with a new model called a C-Burro. These boats will feature a two door coupe design. These new babies will feature a well built hull out weighing the standard 22' cruisers by thousands of pounds. Reccomended power is a couple of 150's at least and they will be getting about 16 mph, or is that mpg. They do not like following C's some have reported. Reccommended tow vehicles will the new ram truck powered by twin fly by wire high bread Prius motors that come with special on off switches so floor mats and throttle issues will be a thing of the past. These will pass those overrated Duramax's like they were tied to a pole. No matter distribution has not been worked out yet but the dealer is reportely from Bird in Hand, Pa.
Prices will be high as demand expected to beyond belief.

Toyota Chief Overshoots Congressional Hearings by 150 Miles
Finally Stops in Colonial Williamsburg

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report) “ The reputation of the Toyota Motors Corp. received another black eye today as the president of the embattled company missed his scheduled appearance at Congressional hearings after he overshot Washington, D.C. by 150 miles.

Toyota president Akio Toyoda said he was having difficulties with the brakes on his 2010 Toyota Prius, which finally came to rest after crashing into a blacksmiths shop in Colonial Williamsburg.

In a brief statement to reporters, Mr. Toyoda said, I knew I shouldâve driven my Chevy today.

In yet another embarrassment, Mr. Toyoda, the grandson of the carmakers founder, realized for the first time that his familys name is spelled differently from the companys.

Mr. Toyoda said that all members of the Toyoda family would be immediately recalled to fix the spelling error.

Electronic throttle, or 'fly-by-wire',

I found out that I haven't been paying much attention to automotive technology and have been unaware that all? cars now use electronic throttle controls.

Here is a link that explains the tech for anyone else who might be too ashamed to ask. http://www.picoauto.com/applications/electronic-throttle-control.html

It looks we are turning over control of our cars to a computer!

If anyone remembers the movie '2001' it was necessary to pull memory chips to disable 'Hal'.

Perhaps we should have a big red 'kill' button so when the car takes off on its own we can show it who is really the boss! :amgry

In testimony today, a woman who's Lexus took off at 100 miles an hour for nearly six miles, she tried shifting into neutral, shifting into reverse, using the emergency brake and finally turning off the engine. How can this not be an electronics problem?

What is interesting is that new cars don't have ignition switches with keys, but push buttons, which I am sure don't allow the car to be shut off while in gear.

"Please stop the car HAL."

"I'm afraid I can't do that, Dave."

Marty and mike. Nothing to do about left or right. Has to do about balance. a good union would work with the company and not load it down with over head that makes it uncompetitive, as the case with the auto union and some others.

Oh by the way it was teamsters local 138 for a number of years, too many in fact.

Tom- Having been both a union member and an employer at different times I can certainly agree with your premise. When times get tough we would be better off pulling together than pointing fingers. It's hard to see our middle class losing the great strides it has made in my lifetime. All I can say is I wish it, and you, well.

Hi,
This is one crazy thread. I love it. I heard Sea Sport is coming out with a new movie called C-Brats Gone Wild. I'm not sure of who packing enough sand to direct this epic but I can imagine a few of the stars of the show.
