SE Cruising Info

Hi all,
The link to Cruisingguide is a good one, but go back to the home page, http://www.cruisersnet.net/index.php to see the real jewels. Cruisersnet covers VA to FL, and Bahamas, has pages for up to date info contributions. Not real busy right now in the NC area, but the whole site is a great resource for info on ICW hazards, anchoring, dockage, what community is the friendliest, etc. A page for fuel prices, tho' lately the prices change hourly, so it's just a guide. Claiborne Smith, the author of the Guide book hosts the website and knows much of the info personally as he spends lotsa time out cruising the NC area at least.

Active captain is entirely different--It is online, viewer modified. It does not have history or items of interest--and anchorages may not be as well covered. Some areas are very well covered; others not as well.

The Cruisers Net, is updated on a regular basis--by reports of boaters in the areas--but is more of an up date to the books, mostly by Claiborne Young.

The SeaGrant site is somewhat limited in size of area it covers and in the anchorages shown. It is certainly useful however.

Evidently I failed to copy the correct link for the Southeast Cruisers home page; sorry! Mr. Young's timely requests for information from cruisers are, I believe, part of the effort to keep the info on the site just as up-to-date as possible. Day by day changes affecting navigation are frequently noted so the site is more current than the publications.
