hey there dr. bob,
sorry to hear about your situation. you know the miracles that occur daily in the surgery room, i'm sure there's one that has your name written on it!
by now you probably could use a laugh, so here goes, linda and i are traveling to nashville tn. tomorrow, we're taking our motor-home, which has not been driven since placed in storage last october. we store our motorhome and boat in a 75' enclosed garage. i went to start the motorhome and the battery was dead. as you know, we have one battery for the engine compartment and 2 batteries used as house batteries. i pulled out my trusty 12 volt meter to test all the batteries. the engine battery registered 5 volts, and the 2 house batteries, wired in series, test out at 5.93 volts each. good enough for me, all 3, 12 volt batteries were dead and needed replacing. what a pain that was. the engine battery came out ok, the 2 house batteries were located under the steps leading into the motorhome. only one step tread lifted up and that was the only way to disconnect each house battery. i though it strange that the house batteries were wired in series, making them 24 volts, but read that some motorhomes used 24 volt systems, so guess mine was one. after i disconnected both house batteries, i had to get under the motorhome to raise each battery out of the holding platform and lower them to the ground. not at all easy while laying on my back! these were to biggest 12 volt batteries i've seen. well i did it, loaded them in the truck and headed for auto zone. the service tech asked if he should test all 3 batteries and i thought that might be a good idea, only to see if my tester was still giving accurate readings. he first tested the engine battery and found it was reading 5 volts and needed replacing. he then tested the house batterys and found the same reading i had, which was 5.97 volts, he looked at me and said that wasn't bad for a 6 volt battery! so, the 2 house batteries were 6 volts each wired in series for 12 volt total, they were just fine and didn't need to have been taking out of the motorhome. so long story short, putting them back in was worst than taking them out.
people complain about the high cost of education, but nobody talks about the high cost of stupidity!
you probably knew they use 6 volt batteries because them are heavier, last longer. hope this brings a smile to your face.
best regards and good luck,
pat

Bob and Dave, Patty and I are think about and pulling for both of you!

Dr. Bob, Marie and Dave,

Just wanted to join everyone in wishing you the best and I really hope that the image of Pat Campbell bench pressing batteries while lying under his motorhome brought a smile to your faces, I know it did to mine.

Bob, Marie & Dave-

From the "Right Coast", here in VA. Beach ,the Prayer Chain is extended
to y'all. As the LORD told me as I laid dead, flat lined, during my heart
attack.."Not, yet. Not, yet."and 2 minutes later I was awake.

So, as my work is not done yet, Jan and I pray neither is yours. There is
still much for you to offer and do. Imbrace your faith and stay on the path.
