Rosborough 246 Rib !!!

Gee's ... and I thought I'd discovered something New!

I guess 'ol Casey was asleep at the switch back in 2012 when this thread was on 'Brats.

A day late and a dollar short; that's me!

WOW - its crazy what you miss when your lap top bites the dust and leaves you off line for a couple of weeks. Imagine my surprise last night when I discovered that one of my "dream" boats is now for sale!! The one of a kind, Canadian born - CONEPATUS. Just in time for Christmas - and I think I've been good this year!

Craig the owner is a Cbrat - not sure if he is retiring from boating or re-boating. He just turned 70 this summer - wishing him well.

Regards, Rob

I noted that a few weeks ago on the Rosborough site. Very interesting boat--apparently wanted to take it to Panama, but never panned out...

Funny I saw this boat last year ?? at the cabelas by my house. I hung out for a while and took pictures but never meet the owners. The tubes where deflated and the anchor was almost as big as the boat. Looked like fun

Tom, years ago somewhere on Cbrats I read this,,

When a Cbrat was asked how big of an anchor was needed his response was -

"If you are tied up and people walking the docks don't go by point at your anchor and LAUGH hysterically - then it isn't big enough" !!

Never forgot that one!

Thank you for the link Marc. A few questions. 1. Without the tubes inflated, is there enough hull to provide flotation? 2. 2. Is there capability to inflate the tube(s) on board, and 3. How many tube sections are there and if one goes down (like from a puncture) is there still flotation and motation capability.

Harvey , Its fully floatable with tubes deflated .Its a deep vee boat at that point . Also there are 6 chambers I believe , 3 per side . Its a very safe design and built to milspec .
Now we just need to find the right buttocks for that seat !

It really is a beast of a boat! Probably capable of getting to Panama on its own bottom.

Just in case anybody is wondering "How big of a beast it is" - check this out - https://www.torontoyachtsales.com/boat_ ... hp?id=1036

This is another 27' Zodiac that CIRCUMNAVIGATED THE GLOBE back in 1994. At that time it was outfitted with a bio diesel engine. It has been completely refitted and is now rigged with a 300hp Etech.

Conepatus is still for sale at Wefings. I suppose this type of boat requires a very specific buyer.

Regards,

Rob
