Ray Macke's boats and blogs

Good reading and I learned a few thinks. it was intereseting reading the problems he had with glass fuel tanks and ethinal gas. I have heard lots of horror storys about this subject but had yet seen any pictures of it happening. He not only tested the effects on glass tanks but documented a fuel blockage after just one tank full of ethinal gas in a tank.

I also found the trick for weight your boat with out taking it off the trailer interesting. Not sure I can do it with my boat with out a ramp, but that bets going to the scale-ramp-scale-ramp just to get a weight.

I doubt this boat weighing trick would work for a tandem trailer unless the weight could be loaded onto one axle (i.e. on blocks). Even then, it seems to me that the measured weight would include the trailer, minus the wheels and axles. So you'd need to know this specific weight. If you know those details about your trailer, it might be easier to just do a single weigh at a commercial scale.

No, if I read it right ( did you read that page) he states that you end up with the weight of the boat only. Now you may very well be right about the duel axles problem, he did not go into that.

Like a Rossy, (well sort of), only home built. Really a nice job. Like the size, the air head and the shower. Drool, drool, bucket please.

Awesome job! Love to see it in person. It feels very homey, warm and inviting. I love the use of the RV shower they have just enough room to take care of business.

I think I would have hired someone to do the epoxy coat inside the hull. I'd hate to get done with the boat, find a mysterious leak and think maybe I should have done the epoxy. But I really like the look of that boat!

Interesting premise. Great attention paid to storage and ergonomics; I admire the ingenuity. Good use of RV components and techniques. No doubt, it will be good for his river usage.

While every boat is a compromise, after having a C-Dory, I would sure miss the 360º visibility... upside of that: a fridge that is at user level.

There is something to be said for keeping it small (within reason). 8)
