Put Down Deposit Today

Is there an escape clause in the contract you can activate and get out of it within a 24 or 48 hour or so "cooling off" period? (Depends on state laws, usually.) I'd activate it and void the sale and not resign it until he set things right, or probably not at all considering the non-professional nature of his actions so far. What's a dealer/salesman like that going to do after the delivery is complete and you have a problem with the boat? What kind of warranty are you getting? Any at all? Is this an "As is" sale? Sounds like the storm clouds are gathering and getting darker quickly! :sad

Sounds like you've got a case of the "Hots to Buy Bug" so bad you're not thinking too carefully! :smileo

JMHO!

Joe. :teeth :thup
Really hate to think that Rolling Eyes

Maybe you're a bit right

Would like to try one of these boats out

Looking forward to seein' y'all out on the pond

Boat seems to be fine

Extremely low hours

Will hit them up for some kind of warranty when I pay

Wish me luckTopes.gif

Thanks Joe for your input

Except for what I've posted the boat seems fine

Just being sold by a team that's not as professional as

We would like

Reminds me of the guys I employed for thirty years

Never as good as you would want

But personally they are wonderful,

Maybe that's what I should do,

HoJo's been on my ass for years to get a job

I'd probably be a good boat salesman :D

:D How the hell do you delete a post?

This place is archaic

I am a little archaic myself so I am good with the place like it is, thank you.

Me too

When it comes to computers, it may take me a bit to figure things out

What is great about this site is all the info

Don't think there's anything about these boats that hasn't been discussed

And it's been easy to locate too

Still don't know how to delete though

Double posted again today when I thought original didn't go 11doh.gif

One thing that really surprised me
was how nimble these boats seem to be for the size.

Suppose it's just been a while since I had a lighter boat.

Was nice for a change. And so much easier to launch and retrieve too.

Boat went straight on the trailer perfectly.

Wish my smaller dory would do that.

Maybe it's just this week being prior to July 4th

And everyone's scrambling for their boats

But I've been trying since Saturday to get an answer as
to what's going on with this cruiser

Saturday, the one salesman that took me for a sea trial said he'd call back within the hour

Salesman says today that it's in the shop and should be ready and he'll call me back

No big deal to me whether it's ready this week or next
or even next month

I'd just like to know what they're doing DirtDOG.gif

After e-mailing the manager
and asking for a response to my questions in writing

I heard back from the salesman pretty quickly

He said the idle problem was just a matter of adjustment

Headed back down Monday for another sea trial drums.gif

Why didn't you get a marine survey done? As well as have a independent mechanic check out the engine.

Just a thought.

Dude:

I've probably got more experience with boats than the surveyor

That's what the dealer is dealing with mulie.gif

But...

This newb can tell there's a whole lot of experience gathered here

That's priceless

There's a really nice boat in Bokelia

It's just that since I quit working eleven year ago

I don't want to spend any more moolah than I have to

Yes, I'm a cheap bastid rayof.gif

I can see getting a marine survey on...

most anything other than this purchase

We, HoJo and I have really scaled down

I've been looking at these boats for as long as...

they've been for sale in Crystal River

Remember laying the sewer line up to the dealer before we know what
was going there

Actually had fish in the ditch

Lord, that's been a long time ago

Early eighties gerg.gif

Trying to figure out just exactly where I'm going once I get this boat

Probably head south to more populated areas for a trial run

But...

One of my closest friends owns a 90 acre island at the mouth of the Suwanee

The cutest girls from UF came to call the last time I was there

According to them the island used to be huge

There's indian pottery hundreds of yards off the beach

See if I can find the vid from me and Island Dan driving down the beach

Kids gave me speaker for my 'puter

and just found the electric cord the other day to fire them up

Been too long to remember just what Dan had to say

But thinking it was Lynyrd Skynyrd on the radio but really don't remember

Back tomorrow for the third time. Along with everyone else I wish I could find a 22 with twin 40s,

electric wipers,

windlass,

full canopy,

radar and kayak rack,

easily sliding windows,

extra large sump for bilge

jack plate

it's got trim tabs

rocket launcher

...right now I just hope they've actually got it in working order uhoh2.gif

I've never heard of a C-Dory with a jack plate. I'd be interested to hear if anyone uses one. Are there advantages?

Here where there are shallows that are extremely rocky

I'm thinking it will work good

And I have one already so I'll be sure and post about it once it's in use

How is this different from just tilting the motor up when in shallow water?

AFAIK, jack plates are for maximizing performance of the engine/boat combination usually used on bass boats and the like (because those guys seem to need to go as fast as possible). I'm not sure of the utility on a C-Dory even when used for fishing.

I don't need to optimize my hole shot when in shallow water.

There will be some trim changes, as the engine is further aft with the jack plate. Also the dynamics around the transom may slightly change.

I have never thought about one for my C Dory's, but have about the Caracal Cat--so I can vary the engine height and tunnel dynamics to avoid cavitation at various speeds. To go thru shoal water, which do only at slow displacement speeds, we just tilt the motor up--and be sure that the water intake is still submerged.

Thinking the boat will run straighter and more efficiently when
idling through the shallows with the motor at 180 degrees
vs tilted up at less of a degree

Don't know that I'll do it immediately

Have to see just how it does the way it is

So I'll know if I like the jack plate on it or not when I do try it drink.gif
