Hello from Iowa,

I can not post pictures in my Album and have not from the beginning.

After the photos are posted I can not add new photos unless I take what is there down and start all over.

I had ask Tyboo some time ago who suggested I ask the group for suggestions.

Now remember, I’m out here in Iowa and these new fangled computers can confuse us country boys.

Please advise.
Regards,

Ron Fisher

Ron- I get various problems from time to time using different browsers to load photos.

Sometimes Safari, Firefox, IE, .... whatever, one works better or not at all. Sometimes I can see the photos, but not load new ones, sometimes vis-a'-vis, etc.

I think it can have to do with my iMac computer vs. the programs designed primarily for PC interface, but ....?

Best advice is to change browsers and try again. Works for me, anyway.

Also, we have sometimes had problems with the photo files being too large for the program receiving them on the site to downsize them, and have had to process them at home or somewhere else before trying to upload them.

I'm obviously no computer guru, but that's how I get by....... :crook

I had been uploading pictures from my Mac via Safari for years and then Safari had an "upgrade" and I couldn't load pictures to my album. Now I use Firefox (a free download) and I haven't had much trouble at all.

Hope this helps.

I've had the best luck using Firefox. I also resize my images to 800x600 before uploading. I've had problems loading larger images from higher resolution cameras.

I am having the same problem, i can not post photos at all. I keep getting a message saying....can not post pictures with the extension JPG. in this form. Problem is that nearly all my files and pictures have the extension JPG. Tug

Can you view the properties of the JPG? How large is it?

Rename the JPG extension using lower case letters (.jpg vice .JPG). After renaming the image, try uploading again

Nick-

That was my experience, too, though the last time I tried Safari a week or two ago, it worked just fine, so the problem must have been corrected!

I post photos regularly. Firefox with a Mac. No issues. I resize every photo I upload to keep it less than 100k as a compressed jpg... up/down loads faster and no problem with the forum gallery software.

When you upload images, I assume you are uploading from your main gallery page, not with a specific image pulled up. Click on "Album Actions" in the upper right and drag down to add photos. You should get a separate "Add Photos" page. Browse on your computer and follow the directions, then go to the bottom of that page and click "upload now". That should get the photos into your album.

Posting them is another set of instructions.

Is this the procedure you're doing to get the images into the album?

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Jim.....that is the procedure that i follow. Than to add a picture to a post i use the browse option and than add attachment. All seems to go well but than it informs me that posting files with extension jpeg is not allowed in this form. I am currently looking at converting all my pictures to an extension that is allowed. Thanks Tug

Hi Tug,

Not sure what is happening there. Every image in our album is a jpg. I am not posting images as an attachment, but linking to the image location in the gallery here. There should be no problem with jpg images here.

It's been covered here, but to include an image in the post, I bring up that image in the gallery. On the Mac, it's Control/click, then "Copy Image Location". Paste that link with img in brackets before and /img in brackets after and it should appear in your post. I find it most helpful to have two windows open: one with the post and the other with the images in the album here - makes it fast and easy to click and paste. Hope that helps.

On edit, here's a post with one of your images using that technique:

Jim...i may be going about it all wrong...i will check out what you suggested. Thanks Tug

Thank you all for comments.

I did post new photos but was limited to five (5).

When I go to “album actions” , pull down “add photos” nothing happens.

am I doing this correctly?

Note: I had never heard of a C-Dory before September of 2008 and now we have two.

Those who visit will hear the story “why”, but first, “we” have to figure out how to get more pictures posted.

Regards,

Ron Fisher

PS: Would appreciate your help keeping the Guttenberg Gathering thread going with questions, comments etc.

Hi Ron,

This software limits you to uploading 5 images... at a time! I have hundreds of photos in the Wild Blue album. When using Firefox on a Mac, if I have clicked on the "album actions" and then "add photos", I get a pop-up page to browse and upload the photos. If I click on that "album actions" again, the pop-up page doesn't... um, pop up. BUT, it is there... behind the album page, on another window. Go to the "Window" in the menu at the top of the page and select the pop-up page. Ta-daaaaaa! You can upload 5 more photos... again and again.

There may be some differences if you're on a PC. Switch to a Mac and you will find life is easier, your boat doesn't need to be waxed as often, dolphins like to swim by you, and women adore you. Your mileage may vary.

Good luck with the upcoming Iowa gathering. BTW, the notice of your gathering is right there on the home page, so it's out there for all to see.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Hello Jim B,

Ok, tried again and “the pop-up page doesn't... um, pop up”.

I have a tech coming in next week and maybe he can figure this out.

Yes, Mac’s are terrific, I have several and enjoy each one and will always have Mac’s for my personal use.

However in my day to day world, my company is run on specifically programmed, custom built (for our application) PC’s.

In my office I have a newer I-Mac, the large screen/monitor is wonderful.

I always explain that to me, PC’s are like having a teen age kid around that is always willing but continually has to be told what to do next.

If the word automation applies, then that would be my description and experience with the 6/8 Mack’s I have had since 1994.

I’m open for any more ideas to try to fix this photo transfer dilemma.

Regards,

Ron

PS: I have turned the “pop up blocker” both on and off with equal results, “nothing”.

Hi Ron,

That's all I can suggest, since I haven't run into any issues. Hopefully someone else here can offer a solution for you.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

We had a couple PCs in our studio to run specific printing equipment. The only time I connected them to the internet was to download software upgrades. My Mac bit above was tongue-in-cheek. Like singles vs twins, Honda vs Suzuki, Raymarine vs Garmin, cats vs monohulls, cats vs dogs, Holidays vs Festivus. Good luck getting this worked out.
