The Reynolds didn't take over until 2002. The SS hand rail change from teak, was a few years earlier, the aft bulkhead from Decaboard to fiberglass, and door changes was earlier.
My guess is that the poster felt it may have been because of change of ownership. However, the quality of the 22's never really changed because most of the crew from prior ownership stayed with the 22.
I would not base my decision on buying a 22 based on year. I owned a 1993, although it had some different trim and aft bulkhead, and interior, it was still good solid boat. I have followed the owners thru the years, and no major boat issues. have occurred (The boat has had a number of motors however).
