power your cell phone with wood and cook diner, very cool.

was not looking to use it on the boat, but on shore or as a spare for the house when the power goes out ( the house model) The small on would be grat for kayaking or other small boats. I really like the idea of how it burns fuel and also as a charger for the cell phone/ gps.

I ran down a bunch of reviews on the internet. Apparently it has been 4 years at least in the marketing...with now an introduction date of some time in 2012 (someone said 1 Q, but that is almost gone).

It has had several bodies--and that may be for home vs portable. If you think of the Peltier thermocouples and what it takes to run an EcoFan, which some of us use on the Wallas to circulate heat--there can not be a lot of power left over for any serious charging of cell phones. The only mention I could find quoted one watt (probably 5 volts if it is USB).

There seems to be a battery, since there are two speeds for the built in fan, and you have to use the forced draft fan to get the fire up to full temperature, which then allows the thermo couple to produce power--charge the battery--and power the fan. Anything left over is for the cell phone.

Prices go form $55 to $ 129. Not really practical for 3rd world countries. The technology is very simple--that of a forced draft wood stove. There may be far cheaper ways of doing this. The "Cole Hot Blast Stove" circa about 1905 has a similar combustion system--but no forced draft.

We tried a SS version of a solid fuel Cole stove on one of our sail boats. It was not very practical--we had to find wood, coal or charcoal, and then deal with ashes after we had used the stove. It did heat up well, and was cozy.

Wonder if a C-Dory could carry enough wood, a sufficiently big enough stove of this type and a plethora of Torqeedos on the stern... :|

The ultimate Green Machine....

Not for me though, mine won't even carry enough wine... :cocktail
