Mark (Not-For-Hire) sure knows his s--- (stuff) regarding potty regulations in Canada. Living on the Great Lakes, presents many opportunities to boat in Canadian waters. In anticipation of cruising the North Channel area and my desire to be in being in compliance with the Canadian regulations, I installed a Thetford Model 775 MSD with a pump out. An access hole was cut and a round access panel installed the fiberglass bulkhead behind usual the porta potty location.. A pump out cap and vent were installed in the port bow deck area. It is necessary to tunnel through the foam flotation under the v-berth deck to provide a raceway for the hook up hosing. This configuration is used when boating in Canada. In US waters I use a standard portable potty, which is what I use most of the time.

I checked the specs on the 775 MSD and see that it is 16" tall. Does that still allow the v-berth filler to be used or would the shorter (13") model 735 MSD be necessary?

Jim

I was able to fit the 775MSD in place. The height is a close fit but on my boat still allows the v-berth cushion to be put in place. I chose this model because of the larger capacity holding tank. I have added some pictures to my "Project Folder". The vent and pump out hoses were run under the v-berth and up through the anchor rode locker. I have made a plexiglass plate that covers these holes and makes the rode locker watertight when this potty configuration is not installed. I am still trying to figure the best way to run the hoses through the floor of the locker in a watertight manner. All things considered, a better way to run the hoses may have been to exit the v-berth just before the rode locker panel. This installation would not look as neat but would avoid the water sealing issue.

Best regards,
