Picked up our new 2007 CD25 from Mobile East Marine last friday. Explored the ICW out of Oriental, SC over the weekend. Learned a lot about the boat. One of the most important lessons was that it doesn't matter how much water you have in front of you or behind you or even on the sides of you. What really matters on the ICW is how much water you have under you. We took Adams creek down to the Newport River. As we came out of the creek into this big expanse of water (Newport River) I opened up the boat to 25 kts. and ran aground in the middle of the river. I got her off but learned a valuable lesson.
All in all, we had a great time. Just me, the wife and dog.
I would like to say something about the dealer, Mobile East Marine. Gene and Carrie treated us like old friends. They made us feel like we were special. They supplied us with extras like life jackets, line, etc at no charge. They had checked out the boat and cleaned it before we got there.
Gene went with us to launch the boat for the first time and went out with us the first time. He again checked everything out while we were underway and gave lessons on how to use various things. I told him that I didn't want to keep him away from his business too long and he replied, "I will stay with you as long as it takes to make you comfortable with the boat." Because it was the weekend, they even gave us both of their cell phone numbers so that we could get in touch of them if we had any questions or problems.
There were no problems with the boat and I would gladly buy another boat from them. I not only have a new boat but new friends as well.
