You do realize that coming home without a boat just drives up your costs? That whole idea of "sell one boat before you buy another" is over-rated. Buying an additional boat really gets you motivated to sell the first one. (Just ask Harper)

Hopefully you had a pleasant trip and made a new friend in Marc. He's a good guy... and just looking to find a good home for all those boats.

Actually the prices we discussed included delivery to my door at no extra charge, which also saved the Florida vehicle tax just to drive it out of the state....grin. :thup

Wanna bet that you could do better if you pick up the boat? When one of your sign customers gets something (like 1100+ mile delivery) "at no extra charge", does it wind up costing you something??? Who pays for all this "no extra charge" stuff that people buy, but it still costs somebody something??? And if it really is "no extra charge", where does that money go??? I'm no dummy (even though I played one on stage last month), I watch infomercials... "But wait!"

This kinda reminds me of the slogan for my favorite outlaw motorcycle shop back in my mis-spent youth: "We cheat the other guy and pass the savings on to you!" :mrgreen:

Of course, if you go pick up the boat, that's gonna cost you something... see, you shoulda just bought the boat while you were there. I'm not trying to put any pressure on you, Herb... but everyday you go without that Ranger or C-Dory is one less day you get to know the bliss so many of us here experience. Oh, sure, you can go out in that jet boat... you may never know that people will be whispering "See that guy? He's the one who coulda had a C-Dory or a Ranger."

I had no idea before we got ours, but people DO look at you differently. Women adore you, men wish they were you... Roger (SeaDNA) tells me that fish also fear him, sometimes to the point that they simply throw themselves into his boat. I don't know about that, I'm too busy being adored.

Alas, the days go by... like sands through the hourglass... :cry

Well.....I can see why the fish throwing themselves in the boat is good, but which boat is it that women throw themselves into again? It sure aint mine........

Jim's right again. We half-heartedly tried to sell our Lund last year in anticipation of buying a C-Dory. After we found Placid C in March the incentive got much stronger and we sold it in about six weeks.

I've known Marc Grove for about three years and there's probably no better dealer to buy a new boat from. If we had ended up buying new that is what we were going to do.

OK Herb-Just buy the boat already. It will help the economy and get two nice people and a dog out of the sun. What more can ya ask for? :wink:
 
Yea, but back to that Marc Grove/Wefing thing. Don't buy something anywhere else. Man, I'm telling you, I've dealt with some real jerks in my quest for boating eden, they come closer than any I've found. I deal with Wefings when I can, and I'm 400 miles away in Birmingham.

How was that Marc, do I get my C-Dory cap now??

I feel honored to have made it into this thread.... Jim, perhaps you're mis-remembering our conversation - I said "Women fear me (with the exception of one) and fish love me" not the other way around. I'm lucky to get either in my boat. For the record though, if it's not too "forward" - I think women might find you adorable even without a boat. :wink:
 
I didn't go from WA to Wefing's to buy a boat, but I was 3700 miles from home when Marc brokered the sale of the 22 in Utah (that I am on my way to pick up now) to me. It's more complicated than that, but essentially that is what happened!

James is correct about people looking differently at a C-dory and it's owners.
As far women goes, I already have the best one in the boat and can't really afford another.
The fish do seem to want to come aboard, and of course I generally invite them to dinner!

The boats are so unique that they shout out "CLASS" to anyone looking.
They will draw attention where ever you take them.

I recently overheard at a gas station a 12 yr. old boy tell his mother,
"Mom, look at that awesome boat".

We were checked by three all business Wisconsin Game Wardens not long ago. They checked our licenses and fish, and as they began to move away one of them came back out of the cabin and said, "YOU HAVE A NICE BOAT".

The pride of owning a C-dory is something we all might have paid for, but I consider it to be free.

I had a couple Mormon Missionaries visit me yesterday while I was in the driveway standing next to the Sue-C. They immediately gave up the pitch and went into discussing the "great boat".
