Can the C-Dory upper-yucha-mucks take a look at Flicker and Facebook accounts to see how it's done.
Sure, no problem - I just looked into it. I think I figured it out how they are doing it.
Based on various reports I've seen around the Internet, Microsoft purchased a 1.6% stake in Facebook for $240M. So, that makes Facebook worth $15 billion.
Flickr, being owned by Yahoo, is a little tougher to figure out. I've no idea what portion of revenues Flickr accounts for, but Yahoo turned down Microsoft's offer of $43.2 billion earlier this year.
Now...there may be other reasons, but I'll go out on a limb and suggest a
butt-load of money, is the key ingredient of their photo handling success.
I've got a pretty big ego, but I'm a little out of my league compared to those two monsters. However, there's something to be said for running a small and lean organization. Perhaps if somebody dumps a measly $40-50 million in the tip jar, Mike and I could hire some really good talent, and get things working for a fraction of what MS and Yahoo have invested.
Or, you could just wait for the
recently announced site upgrade.
Sincerely,
Your smart-a$$ co-host.
