OK Trying to get CD logo decals

You would think C-Dory would provide these logos and not send owners off to bulk suppliers after all it it their name being supported.

We Americans pay to wear beer and motorcycle logos on our clothes -- why should logos for our boats be any different? Ain't capitalism great?

I was successful in contacting the factory today. I talked to Dave. He was funny. Said he sent out a couple of sets yesterday
and a couple of more this morning. Then he said he was going to have to start charging for the things.
Then he asked me if I had been on the website. Shows the value of this site. Thanks to Da Nag and TyBoo.
Anyway, they should be on the way.
I want to thank you folks and C-Dory for providing us with such cool boats and service.
Thanks Dave and C-Dory.

I know several of the Brats are users of "Barkeepers Friend" to remove stains on their boat. It works great, but I learned the hard way to NOT NOT NOT get anywhere near the logo decals! If you do, you'll be bugging the factory, I assure you.

Don (who did and is bugging as I type.)

To All
I live about 3 miles from the factory, and would be more than happy to go talk to them in person on your behalf, if you need me to. But I will be leaving town this Saturday for a week. The soonest I would be able to get there is Saturday the 19th.

When I was reading the first of this thread, I thought about contacting
"Casey N", since she indicated that she was the primary phone answerer--and had asked us for some photos of our boats for promotional purposes. She had contacted me earlier about photos of the helm seat and what was seen from it for a potential buyer. I went to the boat and took photos for her, without charge. I would hope that C Dory will continue to provide all boat owners Logos at no charge. The logo is one of their best advertising tools!

I am sure that the Logo's are ordered in bulk by the factory--since each boat comes with two--and I suspect that the factory cost is relitatively low.

Thanks for the offer Spike. Hopefully by the time you get back the new logos will be on the Kathy -C. That's her new name.
Bob:
You are a great resource for C-Dory owners and I appreciate the inside info.
I have to say that this is the tightest and best owner's sites I have
experienced
Thanks again for all the help and interest.

Hello to all - I've got an answer for you.

I talked to our purchasing manager to see about the logos. He did mail some out last week. I have no idea where they were going or to whom. He did suggest I let all know where they can be purchased (probably in bulk only - and I don't know what quantity is going to determine "bulk"). They may be purchased from:

Craft Originators phone: 812-333-6500
300 Daniels Way
Bloomington IN 47404

Hope this helps. Have a great day/evening.

Miss Casey at C-Dory Marine Group

After reading that post from Casey N, I called Craft Originators, got a VM and left my number. Cassie called me back in about an hour, wanting to know what she could do. I explained that I was calling after the not posted from the CD factory, and was just trying to help some of the CD owners. She sid it sounded strange that the boat manufacturer would said us on to them because they do large (several hundred at a time) production runs. She also said that if they had some left in stock after filling the CD Mfg order, they may be able to sell them. She wanted to check with someone from CD Mfg before she would sell them to John Q General Public, and she also needed to check and see if they did in fact have any in stock, (which she also said would be pretty unlikely). Cassie did promise to call me back tomorrow (Friday) however I won't be able to get anything to here until at the earliest, late tomorrow night. I will get back and pass on whatever she says.

Good luck with the other (CD Mfg) venue,

Harvey

FWIW: If you have a good graphic rendition of the logo take it any sign company with a vinyl cutter and they should be able to replicate the logo for short money - maybe $10 for a pair.

I took mine off after a session with Barkeepers Friend and haven't had my guy cut me new ones. I didn't like the factory phone number on my boat and kind of like telling folks in these parts who makes the boat and what its called. 8)

I just double checked the Tom Cat Logo. There is no "C Dory" with it. It is a raised logo (at least 1/8"), with black and gold shadow. That is a bit more expensive than a flat vinly logo. CC Flyer's suggestion is good--just take a photo and size it--but there may be a charge for "design".

Hopefully C Dory will realize the advertising value of providing these for not only the boats, but all of our trucks and cars! :-)

As I said up a couple, I contacted:
Craft Originators phone: 812-333-6500
300 Daniels Way
Bloomington IN 47404

and Cassie, from there was to do some checking and get back to me today. I couldn't call her today, and I did not get a phone message from her, maybe Monday. One of the things she was going to do was to check with D-Dory Marine Group Mfg, and give there response to some phone calls, that may take a day or two. I will call her on Monday and see where she is with their response.

Meantime, how about a C-Brat logo, in reflective Red, for transom reflectors, good for when on the trailer.

Anne- I'm pretty sure they are talking about this logo

There should be one on each side (port and starboard) of the cabin exterior.

The older boats have, if I remember correctly , the former factory address and the phone number in small type where the picture says "marine group". My boat, a 2004, has only the phone number.

Thanks for the clarification. My new boat does have one on each side. I was thinking of a small sticker that would go on the window, and I have seen one that says C-Brats...
Thanks,
Anne

O.K. now that we appear to have decals coming. Who has removed old ones before? Mine look like they are really going to be tough to remove. Super fine razor blade and azetone? Please chime in. Thanks

Brats,

Here is our original C-Brat logo. If anyone wants to use it, they are welcome to. I own the rights and grant personal usage rights to any C-Brat. This logo is posted in my photo album. You can save this image to your computer. Any vinyl shop can make it up.

I had my guy fire up our vinyl cutter this morning. He cut four decals in gray. I put one on the back of the Tundra.

I also posted the photo in my album.

I've got three extras - free to the the first three PM's including a name and address. :email

I was wondering what kind they were going to send. I noticed at the boat show this year that they went to a new "raised" plastic look. They looked really nice and I was jealous. I'd probably pay for those "stickers".

Hello:
Got mine today too. They look great. They are raised and look like the logo dotnmarty posted without the "marine group" tag. They appear to be on a metal substrate which has the adhesive. Too murky here now to put the on, but will post a photo soon now that I have a photo album - thanks TyBoo.
As far as getting previous decals off the boat, I've had luck with a hair dryer and a PLASTIC scraper to get the off. Them I use WD-40 to remove any remaining adhesive. Works for me.

I just replaced mine this afternoon. I used a heat gun to get the vinyl hot enough to peel off. 'druther peel than scrape. Take your time and don't get it too hot. Once off, you're gonna have gooey adhesive to deal with. I used MEK to get it off. Then, because the new one is slightly smaller than the old one and doesn't have phone numbers etc., I used rubbing compound to get the area polished. One wipe with MEK for a final cleaning and I applied the new decals. Hit it all with some Carnuba wax and it's good to go....

LOVE the new raised letter version. I'd love to get a "Jenny B" made out of the same stuff.

Don
