Off Season Dreaming

Who knew that a guy could still buy, with sufficient cash, a new, wood, Triple Cockpit Runabout or a Torpedo Tailed Speedster? I didn't, until I saw one of These at Lake Coeur d'Alene. The twin 700 hp Viper V-10s were pretty sweet to listen to! 8)

We can always dream!

I really like quality craftsmanship and these boats have that in spades. I also really like it that they have been building quality boats for 78 years. I imagine Post Falls is glad to have them as local employers.

I had a 95 Viper for a few years. 1 of a few mid life crisis's. Good temporary fountain of youth when you would kick her in the pants. Had stock exhaust so not to impressive but sure plenty of torque. I would love to hear/see this thing. At least for a few minutes.
Guess I should have (paid) more attention in school. CD25 set me back far enough.
Thanks for pics and site folks. Interesting.

In one post Pat Anderson encourages folks to buy new C-Dorys and in another post chides an individual for purchasing a new boat from another manufacturer. Huh?

As far as the "conspicuous consumption" comment goes: Couldn't it be argued that very few of us boat owners actually "need" a boat? Conversley, since the remaining majority of us who own a boat but do not "need" a boat, couldn't we all be considered to be engaging in conspicous consumption. Even buyers of new C-Dorys.

Conspicuous consumption feeds a lot of families, pays many mortgages, vacations, car payments......

What an incredibly beautiful blending of numerous disciplines of craftsmanship and design. Absolutely a work of art. I had no idea such masterpieces were being created.

Thank goodness for millionaires.

Agreed! 8)

It was never intended to say that Pat said anything "bad". Thats why I chose to use the word "chide". The definition of chide is: to gently reproach someone. W/O inviting a discussion on semantics I simply wanted to set the record straight.

In my ever so humble opinion and having only laid eyes in person on one C-Dory (thank you Charlie) the C-Dory might be a bit more popular in warmer climates if there were an a pilot house with open sides and an open back. Drop curtains and sides could be made for cooler or wet weather.

The permantent top is very desirable to me but I believe I would consider making the aforementioned changes should I ever purchase a C-Dory. Just a thought.

CV, you are most welcome. And, BTW, that's why C-Dorys have an open cockpit and the ability to put in a second helm station. Then, you have the best of both worlds, an enclosed (and airconditionable (is that a word?) area) and an open area within steps of one another. And you can make the aft area into a "screened porch" which I (and many others) have done!

Charlie

P.S. go to a CBGT and look at some of the other types of CDs and ride on them!
