No longer just a lurker!

Hello from Southern Illinois.

My name is Mark Robertson, and my family and I live about 50 miles east of St. Louis right off I-70 in Greenville, Illinois. I am very happy to say I am in the process of buying a 2008 CD22 from Northwest Outlet up in Superior, WI. Len Robinson at Northwest has been just great to work with, and has spent hours on the phone talking and asking questions to make sure everything is just right.

We live on Governor Bond Lake, a Corps lake that supplies the water for the City of Greenville. A CD22 on a 750 acre inland lake may seem out of place, but these vessels remind me of my school days in Delray Beach, FL...besides, we get to Lake Shelbyville (IL), and the Mississippi and Illinois rivers. The plan is to take the new vessel to the Lake of the Ozarks this spring, too. I have made commitments to be on the water here at home on New Year's Eve, so I hope winter cooperates. I did get the Wallas; that'll help. My friends here on our lake want to extend our boating season...my guess is the CD will do just that.

Anyway, I wanted to say hi and share the excitement with you. Also, I wanted to express my thanks to everyone, especially the site administrators, for all the great exchanges of information. It helped me get to where I am today.

Take care and regards,
Mark Robertson

Welcome aboard Mark. There is a wealth of information on this site and more pictures of projects to upgrade your boat than you will have time to look at.

If you have any questions about anything, just ask. Of all the answers you will get at least several will be the right answer for you.

Welcome aboard! I rec'd a B.S and M.S. in chemistry from Eastern Illinois University over in Charleston and know the are a a bit. I fished on Lake Shelbyville many a time. I'm sure you'll love the CD and have many admiring fans at the local launch ramps (and elsewhere). The wallas was a good choice.

Its even fun parked in your yard. Or better yet take out the car and put your boat inside. It is amazing how it will take up all your spare time........................and money. Even some you don't have to spare.

Enjoy

Greetings and welcome Mark and family,

Please tell us more about Lake of the Ozarks. We've visited there by RV many years ago - looks like a lot of water. And a comfortable, warm boat like the C-Dory would let you extend your season there.

Exciting times ahead as you plan your trips!

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Mark - the adventure begins! As we were remarking at dinner and the Arlington HS production of South Pacific last night with Tom and Susan (Susan E), Joe and Ruth (R-Matey), Larry and Nancy (the former Nancy H) and Dave and Carol (SeaShift), this is the only boat we know of that comes with a built-in social life!

Congratulations! I purchased my 2008 cd 22 last month. I live in the Pacific North West so I am able to log a little boating time during winter. This site is fantastic for ideas and I have been spending hours reading the different threads and learning from the cd dory pros. Some of the modifications are brilliant.

There are not many things as exciting as taking delivery of a new cd dory, at least for me.

Enjoy

Heck, I'm STILL excited, took delivery of mine in Dec 2002. My how time flies!

Congrats on your new B.O.A.T., may you have many good times ahead.

Mark,

I have a question that you may want to answer via PM rather than here.

Why did you go all the way to Superior, Wisconsin for your boat and not to Stateamind Marine in St. Louis?

Thanks.

Jim

Yes Mark, wecome aboard. We started lurking around c-dory boats in the early eightys finally got our own Jan 2003 and didn't find this site to later yet. Glad your coming aboard both with the C-Brats and your new boat.

Mark: Welcome aboard! Hope we get to cruise together a bit. You have many waters in your areas to boat, and with the trailer and a 4-5 hour tow...they are endless. If you ever plan to get just south of you a bit where the OH/TN/MS/Cumberland River's all merge, let me know. We travel the Cumberland often and have a gathering of sorts about every 6-9 months depending on folks schedule.

I hope to cruise the NE corner of the US in the Jun08 time frame. I have for one reason or another always missed those gathering. Watching for folks up there to put the dates out for the 08 boating year for Jun.

Come on down, and you will love that wallas and the extra days it gives you in comfort on the boat....in the driveway or waters.

Hello, C-Brats!

I am excited to say that my wife Mari and I finally leave for Superior, WI on Thursday to take delivery of the Comfortably Numb.

It's been a long wait, especially when you consider we were originally scheduled to go get her the week before Christmas. Some circumstances beyond Northwest Outlet's control prevented that from happening, and the subsequent weather has made a trip up there difficult, if not doggone dangerous at times, before now.

Dave Miller and Len Robinson have done a great job taking care of her, and Friday will prove the wait has been worth it. Kinda symbolic we are leaving on the first day of Spring, I think. There is always hope.

The kids and Cosmo "the Wonder Puppy" will guard the house (so will the Deputy Sheriff across the road) and await our return. Wish us luck...if there are any Brats between Madison and Superior, WI, give us a wave on Thursday and Friday!

You all take care, and thanks for the inspiration and good, good talks.

Regards,
Mark

Congrats on you new C Dory! If you seek relative warmth in the Winter, a perfect Fall or Spring or sweltering heat in the Summer come visit us on the Panhandle !!

Congratulations on a very fine choice. You will not be sorry, but do expect that you will have to tell ever other person at the ramp about the C-Dory. They are the best conversation starters. I have to be careful at home, we live close to an intersection with a stop sign, and if I have the boat out front, it causes people to miss the stop sign. That's bad because the street ends at the stop sign and cross street. Afraid somebody is going to run across the road and wind up in the park

Enjoy, and travel safe. Catch a Safe Boating class somewhere, Power Squadron or Coast Guard Auxiliary and make that meet with Birdman and his buddies, a CBGT (C-Brat Get Together) is a great place to learn, share and have fun.
