I know it is a out of production model, but the Raymarine Outlet store just put
up their monthly specials....and this is $200 off the already discounted deal...
$999.00 WOW ! ...... I sold my Raymarine C80 classic on EBAY for $525 (2005 model) and ordered one... it's huge... I think I will also add the DSM300 module so I can incorperate the fish finder into the unit...

I really just wanted the C120w but no telling when that will go on sale....last month it was the E90w for $1100
These are brand new units in the original box, they also sell refirbushed units and those are less....and come with the full warintee.

If anyone is interested I will be selling my Raymarine A60 fish finder/chartplotter unit with it's DSM25 module, a new transducer,a Navionics all-in-one US marine CF card and a Raymarine GPS..it is a 2006 model.

pm me if you are interested.

Joel, did that price include what? I am going to list a 2006 C80, DSM sonar, Radar dome, and radar cable. I am thinking $1000.

No I just sold the C80 unit by itself...(manuals and cables of course)
What I did was look at the units listed on EBAY ...from $500 to $1000 and listed mine for $525.....it still has 7 days to go but I have a bid on it so it is sold....maybe I will get more for it.

I would think you should ask at least $1000 for yours as the digital radar done is really expensive and the used DSM units sell from $200 to $400 used.

maybe by the end of the auction it will be higher.
I think the auctions are 10 days long.

Joel, can't find the link to their special. Is it still there? Can you post the link if it is?

Im green when it comes to marine electronics. We are buying a boat with dated (14 year old fish finder/chart plotter) and hoping to upgrade to a larger screen color unit.

If I were wanting a unit capable of radar, fish finder, chart plotter all in one and purchased this featured unit, what additional items would need to be purchased to make it work (radar, fish finder, chart plotter), and how much would those accessories run. Hoping to do the upgrade only once and to do it right.

Thanks,

That link works, thanks.

As to the other question, what more would you need, a lot! A Radome (Haven't priced lately but probably about $1500 depending on size, power), that would give you radar. The charts are built in, you could add a Platinum chip for more detail depending on where you are (~$150 or so), a depth Sounder module ($300-800), a transducer ($125-175). That will give you the basics, Radar, Depth Sounder and Chart Plotter.

I ordered one of these, the ordering program didn't work at first, sent in a help request, fixed it and then chickened out when it came to spend a grand on something that would replace something that works just fine already. It's a good buy though.

Thanks for the response. Guess, I wont be ordering it given the amount of extra add on expenses.

As I understand the best units today are Garman... I am staying with Raymarine because I already have the radar unit and that is a huge part of the total investment... I think the best thing for you to do is go to West Marine and get a catalog...they show total systems and the components required...some can be real expensive.... some things you might not want like a video feed, a sirius unit or a AIS receiver.

Most new units have built in USA marine charts so you don't have to buy CF cards (about $199) and include the GPS unit built-in....the new units receive 50 satalites the older only something like 16.

You will need a radar unit and price that before you buy the display as some brands of radar are much more expensive than others.

You will need sounder module and a transducer for you fish finder.

Hope this helps

You might think about talking to Chromer and buying his complete system...
Then selling the C80 and installing that super deal C140w.
He already has the digital radar unit and the fish finder modules...

PM sent to Chromer. Im local too!!!

RayMarine has come out with some up to date technology--and that is why this unit is so cheap--and it really is. Consider that you are getting a 14.4 " display- this equates to over $5,000 in the latest technology!

I think it is a great buy--but sure for another $2,000 and you will have a unit equivilant to the $7,000 new units. However, the depth sounder is not state of the art--it does not have CHIR{, no strucure scan, no broad band.

The Radar is good, but again there are better.

Garmin does have a better Chart plotter, but for screen real estate (You can almost replace the fort window with this unit!) this C 140 is difficuilt to turn down. I would buy one if I was in the market--

Spoke to Chromer and I will be meeting him this Sunday to pickup his package of electronics.

One question I had was how to determine the compatibility of the newer screens, like the one in this ad to the older equipment like the one I am purchasing from Chromer.

Think I can tell you what you will need for the new unit

The DSM module needs to be a DSM30 or DSM300..my old fish finder DSM was a 25 and it would not work...same with the transducer...it takes a P66 transducer.

The radar needs to be a digital unit...the change over from analog to digital was about 2003 or 2004 and the analog unit will not work with the later units.

Also Raymarine no longer provides the base mount, they do include the flush mount kit...(a gasket and 4 screws) but want $50 for the bracket....it is Raymarine A62134

If you plan on intergrating your auto pilot or another device you will need sea-talk jumpers (also sold separately)

Joel,

Does this 14" unit do anything more than the C80 did? Is it an upgrade of anything more than screen size? I have a C80, radar, DSM and an autopilot all from 2006. Are the other components compatible with the C140W?
