New Photo Game

So if everyone who got it right can have a go, here is a real difficult one,

modules.php

Clue:1 tidal range up tp 30 ft.
Clue:2 over 3000 miles from here.

And I knew I didn't know how to get the darn picture in here :amgry

Barry,

Similar tides to bay of Fundy but a lot further East.

Hint. Try drawing a 4,683.07 mile long great circle route from Deception pass and see where it gets you. Google Earth helps.

I won't prolong the agony beyond today because the picture is really all about those beautiful wooden boats which are older than I am and still in pristine condition today.

As for the mud, well, if you are ten minutes late in your tide calculations you get to walk a long way in it. BTDT. BUT there is only one tide per day unlike Puget Sound.

I'll guess Iceland, because of your hint (I don't have Google Earth fully operational yet, though), because of the look of the boats, and because the color of the "mud" or sand looks like it could be volcanic in origin, which is why Iceland is there.

Revised guess based on distance: Stockholm, Sweden. Based on 4317 mile distance from Seattle to Stockholm distance, minus the difference to Deception Pass.

The experiences on this forum are wide-ranging. Our boats take us to all kinds of interesting places, and we're able to share that with our C-Brat brothers and sisters. How 'bout a photo game to show some of those places?

The rules are simple:
1. Has to be something YOU photographed (no snagging something off the internet).
2. Has to be in the US or Canada.
3. Has to have some kind of identifying feature.
4. When you guess correctly, you have to post the next photo to keep the game going.
5. Optional - you may include a hint.

Not trying to distract from any interest in this thread or step on any toes, but hoping that we can keep it in the spirit of the original premise (above). Rather than "where in the world was this taken?", let's try for "where we have been with our C-Dorys". Participation is greatly encouraged - that's part of the fun. To keep it from being confusing (and having several different images being guessed at the same time), confirmation from the image poster should be done before the next image posted. If you guess correctly and can't post, turn it over to someone else. Please keep in mind "some kind of identifying feature". I started this thread with the idea of fun places you've been with your boat and want to share.

Is that OK with all the players?

You east coast/midwest/Gulf coast guys and gals need to get in here and guess so we can see more images of your cruising waters!

Over 10,000 views since the game started; hope everyone is enjoying the game.

Best wishes,
Jim

Right on Jim. Picture taken as Cordell and I flew to the Friday Harbor gathering last year. Sorry I am a bit late responding, but I was out fishing.
Actually, just enjoying the sunshine.

Nice to hear you have some sunshine, Robbi! :hot

Here's the next photo...

Hint: leading into a harbor

OK. Jim. Sorry I forgot the bit about keeping it in the USA but it does have a lot to do with the origin of Dorys in general. I will withdraw the picture even if I did get chatterbox first.

Just for Joe. It is a place called Minehead on the SW peninsula of UK and those are the boats I first "sailed" on some 60 years ago. Sorry no volcanoes but the mud sticks like.....

Just for clarification, Merv, you guessed Chatterbox when the falls pictured by Roger was actually the falls at the end of Teakerne Arm (not the same falls, it's further north in Desolation Sound). After that, I posted the image of the dock at Chatterbox Falls (actually hoping that you'd guess again). That's the kind of confusion we avoid if we wait for confirmation. Please keep playing. :D

Best wishes,
Jim

Ah. They both looked the same to me  Thanks for clarifiaction.
Guess I will just have to go and look right after the CBGT in FH. See what you are making me do. I'll be taking pictures of Porpoises next :wink
