New Photo Game

Yes, Camp Malibu, Malibu rapids, Princess Louisa Inlet. Brats in the area should take advantage of a tour at the youth camp. It is a remarkable resort. Campers return to volunteer year after year as adults. There are volunteers that are there specifically to give tours to visitors. Great hospitality.

That's on my Must do list so it was just a guess.

I have posted another photo in Kingfisher album last page entitled "Where am I". Sorry once again I have not had time to practice the defense against the dark arts homework so I cannot post it here.

Have to rush to catch an airplane to Swissyland right now and will not be back on line until late Monday night PDT, but I know of at least two other Brats who can confirm the winner.

Be good while I am away and leave me some shrimp !!!

Merv

If you need a clue it's a "bare bones" type of place.

Charlie,
Are you sure you are looking at the right picture as the earlier one WAS Tribune? This one is titled "where am I"

It's not too far away from there.

Roger, We've never been to Lagoon Cove but remembered the sign from the Wanderer's outstanding video! To find the video look at the bottom of the C-Brats home page and follow the link and download. It runs best from your hard drive. George and Penny really did a very nice presentation.

Yes Jim, This was from the 2005 Lopez gathering (our first trip on the boat and in the San Juans). At the dock was Bambina, Bess C, Rock C and the naked Knotty C (no arch, radar and camperback). David had already left with the Anna Leigh.

Stuart Island is one of my favorite places in the San Juans. I've stood in that same spot... after a STEEP walk up from the dock. :D

Here's the next entry...

This one is off the beaten path so I'll provide a little help for Brats that haven't had the opportunity to have been there.

I'll quote Larry: "Hint: North of the 48th parallel and research will find the answer".

Second hint: It's a Kennecott mine that has the second largest silver output in the US. Gold, lead and tin are also mined there.

Please provide name of body of water and mine name.

Third hint: See Larry's hint above.

Don,

My guess would be Green's Creek Mine on Admiralty Island. Never been there so I would say Lynn Canal or possibly Gastineau Channel.

Roger,

Yes it is Greens Creek Mine on Admiralty Island.

Here is a shot of part of the facility. I think the red building are housing for the mine workers. A newer looking building is behind the red buildings.

There is a private dock there that is off limits.

We were on our way from Juneau and had to duck into Funter Bay, which is the photo before the mystery photo.

The body of water is Hawk Inlet at the convergence of Chatham Strait and Icy Strait.

We were on our way to Hoonah to see BC (Ken) at Elfin Cove and got a late start leaving Juneau and got caught in the dark so we ducked into Funter Bay and dropped the hook for the night. The next morning we heard there were small craft warnings in Icy Strait so we decided to not go see Ken and would head to Tenakee Hot Springs. We took a bit of a beating for about 2 hour making about 15 miles before ducking into Hawk Inlet. It was very calm and very welcome in Hawk Inlet. We went past the mine and found the anchorage that the Douglass' Exploring SE Alaska mentioned at the head of the inlet (the inlet is on the north tip of Admiralty Island and the head is probably back 8-10 toward Juneau). The guide also mentions Greens Creek Mines. When we first got there the tide was low but rising. We noticed many eagles, (a dozen or so) and they were just waiting..... Until the tide came in, the salmon starting running and the Grizzles started feeding. The eagles were just waiting for the scraps. We anchored that night in 6 fathoms. The only other people we saw was a crab boat pulling his posts the next morning. Hawk Inlet is a very safe port and worth anchoring for the show and the solitude. The next day we headed back out to make our way back home in to calmer water. We decided we would go to Baranof Hot Spring just to spend one night on our way home. We wound up spending 3 nights and soaked up the hot springs 2-3 times a day! This is one of our favorite spots. The photo sequence begins on page 7 of our Alaska 2007 photo album.

Roger give us a mystery photo and let the puzzle begin.
