Hello every one,
My name's Jeff, and I have been looking at this site for over a year, but only recently registered. Your site, its helpful members, and the "kinship" I felt with the members here all contributed to me purchasing the very first boat in my life yesterday: a 22' Cruiser, used, through Bob and Marie Austin.
The Austin's typified the members here on the site: helpful, informative, knowledgable and very kind. They hosted this unknown tattoo'd man in their RV, took me out on the boat, sat with me and educated me in all aspects of the boat and seamanship, took me to West Marine to purchase for me additional necessities needed including "Chapman's Seamanship" and helped me down to the basics such as how to tie knots. Further, we took it to a mechanic to fix a motor problem and he handled all expenses so as to transfer the boat in A-1 condition and even had the part overnighted at extra cost so I would not waste any of my boating summer.
The boat is just as wonderful as I dreamed it would be for over the year I was searching for "it." That's a hard expectation to meet btw.
I'm off to Lake Mead in a few days then I'm off to get salty in the Catalina's and I will be looking to expand my knowledge here and possibly hook up with some fellow C-Brat's over time. Already talking of cruising up to Alaska next summer with the Austin's.
Wish me luck as I "jump-in" to your world here and if I don't sink her the first few times out, I am sure I will be here for a long time coming....
