Hello everyone-

Allow me to introduce myself; my name is John and I've just purchased a 1992 16' Cruiser. I also have two Bertrams (a 26 and a 28). I bought the C-Dory as it seems like it will just be perfect for putting around where we live in BC when it's just the two of us.

I've lurked a bit for the last two years, and your combined expertise has been invaluable in making the decision to purchase. In other words, if we hate the boat, it's your guys' fault! <grin!>

Thanks for letting me join your playground.

Hi John and Welcome. Congrats on the good find. the 16 will be a good size to do that putting, Which, by the way is where in BC? I grew up in Sidney, and there a getting to be quit a few C-Dory's on the island. Since you have been "lurking" I'm sure you know what the CBGT's are all about, and there is one planned at Comox in July. Come on and join the fun. You also probably know that you didn't just get a boat, you signed on that dotted line for voluntary membership in the best boating family ever on the water. It's a great group, good fun and educational. If they were (whoever that is) were ever to rename this place it would need to be something like C-Dory University or something, because it is all here ..... really. :thup :thup for the guys that keep it happening here.

Alright, which one of you C-Brats held John down and made him buy that 16??

Welcome aboard, John. I had other boats when we bought our C-Dory. That 16 is a neat little boat - you're going to enjoy the ease and the fun.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

PS It's all "free will" here in Bratdom. Contrary to what you might have heard or read, we are not a cult. No one is forced to buy a boat, and you can come and go as you please. We do have members who sell their boats (as evidenced by the "for sale" section)... and some are actually able to walk away. Sooner or later, though, most of 'em come back. On their own, of course. 8)

Thanks for the welcome, Harvey and Jim.

Yes, I definitely got the feeling of camaraderie during the lurking...

I have a home on Nelson Island near the mouth of Jervis Inlet. And yes, if we manage to schedule our vacations properly, I will definitely try to make it to Comox for the day.

Cheers!

John
