Thanks, it sounded too good to be true. I guess that's why most of the used CD 25's don't have a trailer. So, more like a 3/4 ton pick up or larger with 12,000 + towing capacity?
I appreciate the info.

I'm sure 25'ers will add to the discussion, but I would think you'd have an all-up towing weight of somewhere between 8,000# and 9,000# (maybe some are in the 7,XXX# range?).

Our 25 weight was 6800 lbs towing with a Ford Excursion 7.8L diesel. (Charlie Marie still wants that truck back!) We towed all of the US, including to Prince Rupert with no problem. Rated tow capacity was 10,000 lbs. My current 2012 Yukon XL 4 x 4 with heavy duty tow package is also rated at 10,000 lbs with a weight distribution hitch. I would have no hesitency towing the 25 or 26 with this rig, IF I had the electric over hydraulic brakes.

Adam, I was sailing master on a 55' ULBD which hit the corner of a container at 8 knots in 10 foot seas, 55 knots of wind and at night. There was impact of the outer 3/8 glass, an indent into the 1 1/2" core, and some delamination of the point of impact on the inner 1/4" layer of glass. No breech of the hull. If that had been a conventional fiberglass boat, we probably would have sunk it. The balsa core was planked, not end grain, so it is a bit different. The owner, designer and myself discussed the structure, and we decided the best way would be to put a layer of matt "S" between the inner and outer laminates about every 6". It would add a few hundred lbs to the weight, but would provide a safety factor. The boat made 3 circumnavigations after that accident, with only a re-enforcment of the inner and outer skins! We did NDT and some bore testing when the boat was sold after 22 years of hard use, and the bond with the glass and balsa was as good as when the boat was first laid up. I respect Pascoe, but he is "conservative" in some areas. Some boats are not properly built, and that is where the issues are.
