My wife and I are becoming C Dory owners this Saturday when we take delivery of our 2006 22ft Cruiser. We began looking for a pocket cruiser that we could cruise and overnight on. When we discovered the 22 C-Dory we knew this was the boat for us. We were looking at new 2007's when we came across "Pegasus" a barely used 2006 with many of the options we wanted. The dealer turned us on to this web site and I've already gotten some great information off from here.
We pick the boat up new New Bern NC this Saturday and plan to put in Oriental and Cruise the 80-90 mile back to Wilmington
Welcome aboard and congratulations. You might want to check on the http://www.CruisersNet.net This is a web site updated all of the time, which deals with the ICW's. There have been some problems in the Swansboro area, and this may not affect you--but a good place to be informed about shoaling and navigational markers plus other issues in this part of the ICW.
Congratulations on your purchase. I'm originally from your neck of the woods. You are in some great cruising and fishing areas. We use to have a place at Topsail Acres in the 50's and 60's it's called Mallard Bay now I think. I still have a rental house in Wilmington. Bought a lot of Venus Fly Traps in Hampstead in the old days. You'll really enjoy your CD in those waters.
Exciting times ahead! Congratulations on the new boat... it should be perfect for your intended use. Keep us posted - we'd enjoy seeing some images, too, of the new boat in the ICW and other cruising waters in your area.
We probably will never have the opportunity to cross wakes on the water. We are separated by several thousand miles of land, but I hope we are able to cross virtual wakes through this medium.

Thanks for all the great info. I did check out cruisers.net and it looks like there's a bad shoal at marker 61A. So we will be on the look out now that we are armed with this knowledge.
Ourhouse is directly behind Topsail Island on the west sde of the water way. In fact we are just north of the Mallard Bay community someone mentioned.
Hi, congratulations on the new boat! Keep an eye out for AKJACK, cruising south in the ICW from Norfolk. He was at the Coinjock Marina last night and is destined for Jacksonville in a couple of weeks. He's on a Green 22 Cruiser, OBJOYFUL but he doesn't have the name on it yet.
Hampstead I spent many happy hours as a boy fishing, clamming, crabbing and shrimping in the waters you are in. I haven't been back in those waters in nearly 50 years and I plan a trip by boat up there this spring. I really am looking forward to some current pictures of the area. I have some old pictures of the area from the 50's and 60's I'll try to dig up and post. Have a great first voyage.
