New 19 Angler Owner

Well I finally did it. I've been lusting over the C-Dory for a couple of years. I finally decided to go with the CD 16 Cruiser because I figured it would tow best behind our 30' RV. So with cash in hand went to see Marc at Wefings. He has a very nice used CD16, rigged the way I wanted. Marc is the best. He put it in the water and told us to enjoy and give him a call back when we were finished putting her through the paces. We spent about four hours on this great boat, but in the end the real boss said.. no. It was just a little to "tipsy" in a broad side sea for her liking. To get to the point we ended up with the 19 Angler. So, hope to see some of you around from time to time.

Who ever said "don't take your wife shopping with you when you're contemplating purchasing a boat?" Truly, many of us on this site are blessed by marrying the lady we did! Because of them we have been able to purchase the vessels we have. (I've got buddies that would LOVE to own a boat, but are unable to because of their spouse).

There was a time when I often borrowed my wife's vehicle to tow the boat and I will never forget the morning when she said to me....."either SELL THE BOAT OR BUT A NEW TRUCK!" (Of course, I immediately took her advice and two hours later called her on the c-phone and said, "Hi Honey, I'm sitting in my new truck.... " To which she replied, "good".

A year and a half later we were talking about taking the 16' Cruiser to Lake Chelan and I commented that we should have a bigger boat to better accomodate the three of us and she said...."yep". Gotta love her....she's a keeper!

Congratulations on your new vessel!

Good to hear there is another 19 owner out there. We have one too and I think it is a great size for everything I use it for. What power did you put on it?

Congratulations on the new boat you'll enjoy it. That 16 you tried is probably the one I traded on my 22. It's a great boat with lots of extras for anyone looking for a 16 it just wasn't large enough for my needs.

Yes, Marvin it was your boat. It is really a nice one and Marc has it priced right IMHO.
I mean who am I to complain. She said no ... you gotta get something bigger.... My hart is still with the 22 Crusier the pocket will have to do with the 19. That is until Marvin moves up to a TOM CAT or the new 23.....

My introduction to Cdory was when MY WIFE spotted it at our local boat show 4 years ago. She thought it was "unique and cute." That's when the quest began to own one....

When I bought my 16 I didn't ask anyone (I'm single) I just came home with it. Up until that point I did all my boating alone 99% on the time. I had a open Carolina Skiff. I wanted a little more creature comfort. My daughter and GF fell in love with the boat and I suddenly had two and three passengers. When I starting thinking about the 22 I mentioned to my daughter that I might spend some of her in heritance on a larger C-Dory and she was all for it. My next plan is to take them out for a three or four day trip without a shower and see what develops from that.

Great to have another C-Brat in the south!! You should love your boat. Be sure and look at the other 19's listed and hook up with those folks too.

Keep that trailer in good shape....we move around a lot down here in the SE corner. Look forward to traveling with you some day!

That's exactly what happened... took the boat out from Eastpoint, (Wefings) and got fogged in. She said "don't you need you put a radar on this thing." Now I have to get her to pull the anchor a couple of times and then explain about a windless... I think this boat is going to end up nicely rigged...

I learn something everytime I log on. Now if I can just get Dot to raise the anchor. ..Think I'll wait till she's done with physical therapy...

Listening to a distress call one night, the Coast Guard had a helicopter over his position in 15 minutes, in dense fog, because the fellow could give them his Long & Lat off of his GPS. The Admiral said, "We've got to have one of those." :wink

They asked him to fire a flare, but please, not at the sound of their engines... :xseek

Roger,
Congratulations on the boat purchase. Put it in the water, and cruise on over to Perdido Bay, and my dock, or other anchorages. The best launching ramp is either at Pensacola Marine Shipyard complex, or Shoreline Park in Gulf Breeze. We need more and better ramps, although there are several other fairly good ramps in the area.

I believe that we have 6 C Brats in Pensacola now.

Hi BOB,

I only live about 6 blocks from Bayou Texar so always launch there for boats I don't keep at Daybreak. It warmed up enough today that I actually got quite a bit of rigging done. Mounted VHF & ant. , Navman, RITCHIE digital compass, swapped analog tach with digital Flow Scan 9000, and installed one rod holder before it got dark. I really “need” a new GPS so I think I’ll go to Georges’s Marine Electronics tomorrow and see if I can poor mouth Jerry into making me a deal I can’t refuse. It’s suppose to be near 70F on Saturday, so of course, I’ll have to take a break and go fishing…. :xlol
