neat artical on ship salvage

Wow, that was a cool story - I couldn't stop reading it. It sure makes me appreciate my safe day-to-day activities.

What a tale! Couldn't stop reading it, even though breakfast hailed -- thanks for the posting.

Wow, what a story! Makes some of the stuff the Navy has done seem pretty tame! Thanks Ken!

It was a great story. Patty has a cousin in his 40s named Marty Johnson, but he is no naval architect and he is fortunately still alive.

There are seedier tales of salvage operations however, including some local stories of owners of boats who didn't really need any more help than a tow accepting offers of assistance after getting out of burning marinas on their own, and then facing lawsuits for a percentage of their "salvaged" vessel. It is legalized piracy - at least these guys get a contract in advance.

Great story-and it's real!!

I loved it !!!! I do salvage boats... but not that size...and not for 10 million... although in my dreams.... Yes I would love to work on a job that size... even the small stuff is exciting.... But, I don't cuss like those guys... never thought it added anything.. or got any tatoos... guess I am just not BAD enough...

Yessir, that was a very good read. Believe it or not I read it on my nerd phone at work today (only during break time, of course). Then I read through most of it again this evening. Thanks, B~C. How do find this stuff?

Fantastic salvage effort. Tragic that a life was lost. Takes a lot of skills to pull this type of job off.

Thanks for the link!

article, article...I do know how to spell, it's just that my brain and fingers aren't always connected at 4 am.

some chap posted that on ifish, I lifted it from there. I think it would make a great Discovery channel show.....what a tale

they should have just moved the kicker to the starboard side. (Sorry, I just couldn't help it)
