Sarge - You were the mature adult there. :thup
Capt and Warren - Your comments are on target.
In the early 70's, I failed the NYPD physical by a 1/4". I did not meet the height requirement of 5' - 8" - no longer used.
On my 60th physical, I was measured at 5' - 5 1/2". All my life I've felt the need to defend my "small" stature from insecure people. It seems I was one of them.
It took a good wife and raising a family to help me change my attitude. :idea
I was a amatuer boxer for 8 years, so I know how to use my hands.
My nose still takes a right turn from a sucker punch thrown after a bar fight, I thought I won ,was broken up. Does anyone really win? Nope !
StarcraftTom - I thought a lot about responding to your comments. I feel like I have to say something.
I agree with many of your thoughts deploring the lack of decorum in today's society. I just can't agree with your suggested remedies. Your actions dealing with those children in the diner was intolerable. Would you have done the same thing if their fathers were there? The fathers response might have been different and would surely have lead to escalating the situation.
People who feel the need to enforce their standards in proper behavior scare me. I don't know what their limit is as to how far they are willing to go to enforce them.
I don't want to stand on a soap box and condemn you because I'm not perfect and am not God.
Most of those commenting here are supportive of Sarge's actions, as am I grudgingly.
