My First Experience with MarineTex

i just keep a gallon of west system epoxy resin 105 and fast hardener205 around, you can get the pump tops that provide the right mixing ratio, and a canister of 404 filler, this allows me to make the stuff as thick or thin as i want, so it works for most applications, just mix the resin and hardener first, then add filler till you get the right thickness for the job...

Warren,

If you're interested in one of those heaters, there's one of them on a shelf in my garage...Same price as the Radio. :thup :smiled Jack

Generally for metal "fixing" I prefer J B Weld--either regular or Kwik.

The water heater project did not work with the tank I could get in Sequim, so it has been scratched. The small tank was not designed for even 20 PSI water pressure, but I have the system all plumbed for the conversion, when I find a suitable tank. (I want to heat 1 to 2 gallons of water with 750 watts. This will allow the Honda EU 1000 to operate all 110 v systems on the boat. For this trip we will use the EU 2000--just a little heavier) Since Marie is now here (and freezing), we will make some preparations for heading North--where it may be colder, but hopefully wetter.

What is the problem with the factory water heater that you are attempting to replace?

Welcome to our world!!!! If this is the "new" PNW climate, we DON'T WANT IT!!!!

Nothing wrong with the factory water heater....but there was a leak in the hose clamps behind the heater (hose clamps were not tightened properly, the "T" connector was the wrong size, and in one case, two hose clamps were meshed together!...a bit surprising... Since I have batteries installed in back of that waterheater, it is hard to access this area. We never use the full capacity of the water heater, and need 2000 watts to heat the water (generator). The new water heater would: 1 take less room. 2. be more accessiable. 3. require 750 watts (EU 1000 generator which runs everything else on the boat and is lighter) 4. there would be less weight on the prot side (80 to 100 lbs less) 5. we would have increased storage space. The project is on hold until we find the correct heater. I have seen them, but just not in Sequim or PA. The old heater is back in place--and we will heat it when at docks and have power, or we will heat water on the stove for baths....

Well, it looks wetter! We head for the San Juans Tuesday (wind permitting), and then to Gulf Islands, and hopefully further North--depending on the weather....

We are hoping to get up to Desolation Sound the week of June 16th. Maybe we will see you (and other Brats?) up "thataway". John Schuler may come along in Paradise.
