Moyen Poodle

Many C-Brats love their dogs which become great companions on their trips. After being without a dog for about 6 months it feels right to start looking for a new puppy. Our last dogs, a Portuguese Water Dog and a Bichon passed away within 2 weeks of each other at around 14 years of age. My wife wants another Bichon, I am leaning towards a Moyen Poodle which apparently is a Poodle size between the standard and the miniature. Poodles in general are a breed I am not familiar with except knowing they are very smart and relatively easy to train. If anyone out there has information to share about the Moyen poodle, please let me know.

That makes sense as "moyen" is French for "medium."

One thing I (think I) remember about poodles is that they don't shed. If so, bonus!

Angel is at the upper size of a Miniature / lower size of a Moyen Poodle: Weight about 18# and height about 15". She is an ideal dog. Loves the water, loves the boat, intelligent (more so than her master at times). We don't know her history, since we rescued her--but think we found the breeder where she came from, who has mostly Moyen poodles. She has a long trail, and we love how it looks. Usually has a "Bear cut"--not a fu-fu cut.

We rescued her at 4 years of age, and she is now about 8. She acts like a pup still, and we expect that she will live well into her teens. I highly recommend this type of poodle as a "boat dog".

Patty here. LOVE those pictures of Angel. She was such an amazing fisherdog. Perfect size, and smart (can't say that about the Baxter boy, but he's sweet).

We got our moyen poodle, Chilli dog, after meeting Angel. I had never been a dog person but I love this dog. He is friendly, smart, loves the boat and the water -- a great companion. Besides the C-Dory he also comes with me on a sit-on-top kayak, sits on the front or the back. From my point of view he's a really good size, 33lbs. I can easily lift him up, he can sit on my lap (just barely), and he rides in the front seat of the car and can see out. You can see a picture of him in our photo album. His name refers to his home of Chilliwac, British Columbia. I liked the breeder, Paris Poodles. http://www.parispoodles.com/ NEVER thought I'd be a poodle guy, but I am and I love it. :thup :thup

Angel is a great PUP. :hug :dog :love Would not recommend a Silky Terrier like our Andy the Wonder Dog for boating. Love him but the first trip on our boat out of only two or so, he threw up before we even got underway. He's about 12 and will probably be good for only about 2 or more years. The 4 :cat :cat :cat :cat 's are another story altogether...
