More wireless broadband stuff...

Hi Brats,

We had a situation the last 3 months while out in our RV... Joan and I both had laptops, but only one wireless broadband card. In researching a solution, we came up with the Cradlepoint CTR500 wireless router. You can plug it into DSL or cable, but the best part: it will accept a wireless broadband card (either Expresscard 34 or USB) as its source.

So, plug the wireless card into this, and you have your own wifi setup. Right now, Joan and I are both online... with only one wireless card.

Now, I just know that Bill is going to come on here and tell me that this isn't "keeping it simple", but it is keeping peace! 8)

Next time we're at a gathering and other boats around us are in need of a wifi connection, we'll be distributing... um... selling... er... soliciting for donations for connectivity.

Ain't technology grand? :wink:

I also use cradle point wi-fi pipe mdr 1000 and it works well. Unfortunately my Verizon broadband aircard works at one of our houses and not the other. And my Sprint air card has the opposite problem. Hopefully we will get some overlap soon so I can shed one of the air cards.

Suggest you allocate time slots when you do this because the size of the "pipe" that Verizon provides is not very large. Otherwise you get all these wild brats downloading streaming video of who-knows-what and there goes your throughput!
