More #$!% Snow!

I am still in shock over the link you posted. Who in the heck is running Seattle and where'd they come from? Probably the most interesting part of the whole article is that they don't want to put salt into Puget Sound. After reading that I seriously wonder about their intelligence as Puget Sound is full of salt already. I could see wanting to protect Lake Washington, the clear water streams, and the other fresh fresh water bodies that I am missing, but Puget Sound. And, they want to protect it from salt? All I can say is wow!

I wonder which is worse: dumping some salt on the roads or having thousands of cars spill gallons of antifreeze onto the pavement as they smash into one another? Well, don't let the body shop answer, they are loving every minute of this.

Everett snow report. I'm at work on Everett Mall Way right now and It's coming down in big flakes. I can barely see across the street with not and It sticking in the road again. Guess it's not over yet.
 
Well, we all heard how tough it was. So, let's now hear about how happy you are now that the snow is gone. It is -28 right now at my home outside of Wasilla. The snow is still here. I can't wait until it is as great here as it is there :) You guys have tulips yet?[/i]
 
Check out the snow damage in my pictures of Raven Dancer. They are of the moorage on the Columbia River across from Columbia Crossings where we keep Raven Dancer. I think it is called Pier 99 moorage, most of the boats were moved over to Columbia Crossings. I don't know if any were sunk or not but the roof caving in sure can't have done any good to any of them.

Well folks, the snow in Spokane is 59.7 inches for December. This is now the greatest snowfall since records have been kept in the late 1800's. Most of the snow came within about 1 week. But today, 38 degrees, wind and some melt. Think summer, and more boating. I don't like the ice fishing anymore. Regards, and Happy New Year.

I can't see Sarah's house from my front porch. She actually lives in Wasilla and just live near Wasilla. She has a great house, but I would rather have mine as I hate living in town. Right now I have a moose eating my tree again, maybe town isn't so bad. But, with that said, I have met her several times as my wife is administrator in the local school district and they have together done lots of fund raising for the cure of cancer in the past when Sarah wasn't so busy.

If it makes you guys feel any better, the high temperature at my house today which gets absolutely no direct sun this time of year, thanks to the little hill I live behind, was -18 degrees. Fortunately, there is no wind at all. Anyone want to set up a pool on what the low temperature will be tomorrow morning? The forecasters say it is going to be warmer. No tulips yet.....

Yet, as cold as it gets, as snowy as it gets, the summer is addictive. The fishing is great, the hunting can be awesome, and there is nothing like boating PWS and the North Gulf Coast to be had in the Lower 48. Like you guys, I love where I am at, love complaining about it, and don't have plans to move. Lord, don't let the heater break tonight!

THAT is an example of someone suffering from SAD. A normal person would be pining for the sunshine. :hot I get your point, though, Pat. No smart-alecky comments, no F-D dolphin photos. I really hope Mother Nature cuts you folks some slack.

SAD, why people in Ballard eat lutefisk and then kill themselves...:cry: I also think this lack of sunshine is is aggravating my psoriasis (not a joke), GOT to get to sunnier climes one of these days!

I had psoriasis in Utah, where there is plenty of sunshine, so I am not sure there is a correlation.

Read about it here. "The sun, and particularly sunshine coupled with sea baths have a favourable influence on psoriasis in 70% of patients.

The effect of salt water alone is very small.

The two have no effect in 20%. They can aggravate psoriasis in 10% of patients."

I first became aware of the benefits of sunshine on a cruise to Mexico when my psoriasis (which mainfests itself thankfully only on my feet and shins) fairly miraculously disappeared for the duration, a phenomenon that recurred in subsequent Mexico trips. The science does support it.

So, when I take off my shirt and jump in the waters off Florida to cure my psoriasis, do I increase my chances of getting skin cancer? Hmmmmmm. :mrgreen:

Snow is one thing. Below zero is another. Here in White Suffering Springs Dec. was the 4th coldest on record - over a century. On the few days the sun shined, locals swear that they could see their shadows shivering. Yesterday it reached 40 F at noon and dropped to 10 below at five pm. The locals are a bit skeptical about global warming. I might add.

Think I'd be more concerned about the Shark bite than the skin cancer. My dermatologist would probably not agree, but after spend a few weeks watching shark week on Discovery, I'm not swimming in anything but a bathtub, (or the hotel swimming pool).

Well, it's been snowing hard around here for the two hours or so. We've got another 2" on the ground and it's still coming down pretty heavy. Hopefully, it will warm up a little tonight (as is predicted), transition to rain and clear this crap off my hill before morning. However, I'm betting I'm putting the chains on again tomorrow and driving both my wife and myself to work.
