More signs of global warming

Eagles usually migrate south for the winter. This one decided it's now warm enough to winter over in interior Alaska. But everyone else did migrate south so he's fighting boredom.

Eagles stay as long as there is FOOD!! :beer The only reason there are So Many EAGLES IN ALASKA is Eagles don't taste good!! Kinda taste like Spotted Owl. Global Warming my ass!

The Bat VS Eagle lawsuit story that hit the internet was merely a hoax generated to hide the fact that the eagle is obviously using that small twig to type posts to C-Brats online on the laptop that has been edited out of the picture.
Obviously this is where all of the recent negative posting originated.

I almost didn't look at this thread because based on its' title "More Signs of Global Warning", I was afraid there would be a photo of Wild Blue Jim in speedos!

I wear my Tommy Bahama swim trunks... or I wear nothing at all. And I'm getting tired of all the PM requests for more photos! Well, I suppose I could post one of me hanging upside down like that eagle.

Knowing Dogon Dory, my first thought he just turned the photo upside down. On closer examination and using my college education in forestry, the tree is definitely upright so the eagle is definitely inverted. His head is at a very unusual angle lending even more credence to the fact this may in fact be a real photo. If so Dan, I have one question:

How did he ever get out of that position without leaving a lot of feathers?

I have seen a wild turkey do that when she ended up on branch that wouldn't support her weight. She managed to reach down with one foot to lower branch which was even smaller. Eventually, she gave up and kind of fell/flew out of the tree back to the ground to start the whole process of roosting for the night all over again.

The upside down Eagle is an international sign of distress. There probably was a lost or injured hunter near the base of that tree. Perhaps a smoldering ember. These Eagles are as smart as Lassie when it comes to alerting us to danger, they just can't whine or bark. Where's Timmy, Is there a fire girl?

I guess it is an accurate assesment of American ego to think that what we have done in a few election years of the the last couple of hundred years has changed the course of millions of years of evolution. The human brain is the only organ that can analize itself...too bad!

Dan,

I think this is a whole new sub species of bald eagle. It obviously has evolved differently than remainder of the eagle population. It enjoys hanging upside down and has pioneered the art of righting itself, not to mention hanging around in Fairbanks where there aren't many fish to eat this time of year and the ravens will gang up on it. We will call this the Haliaeetus leucocephalus var. fruzen inverticus.

The warmest year on record so far was 1933...the warmest since then was 1998! Annual records reflect that the average annual global temperature has DROPPED every year since then.

Make no mistake, the recent hysteria concerning Man-Made climate change led by the likes of Al Gore has been created by those of his ilk to further the cause of Socialism in our country and global redistribution of wealth! Gore was quoted this past weekend as saying, "We should ingore those that disagree with the current consensus!" This only confirms that there IS no consensus! Don't forget that at one time there was a consensus amongst scientists that the Sun revolved around the Earth...and another that the Earth was FLAT!!! Remember from Middle School Science Class...Consensus and Science are DIAMETRICALLY OPPOSED!

This eagle had done nothing but spent a weekend on a boat with Byrdman and was taking a break while walking home...nobody that's spent the weekend on a boat with Byrdman can DRIVE home, let alone FLY...he was just trying to regain his bearings!

Thanks for the chuckle!

Sounds like a perfectly reasonable explanation....as a matter of fact, I showed the picture to Steve and asked, "What do you suppose caused that eagle to hang upside down from the branch?" His response was, "must've had one too many!"

Caty/Steve, nope, that's not it. I tried that once after having "one too many" and fell on my head! :crook :cry

I'll show you at the SBS, Oh wait, no I won't, Sally will be with me and she doesn't allow me into the trees!
