It’s going to kill me but I might have to let my new 2009 Ranger 25 go. My daughter is have some financial problems and I thought I would sell my 25 to help her out and when things get better, replace it.
The boat has the Cummins engine has never seen salt water and sits on my lift at Smith Mountain Lake, VA at my home. The interior is fully high gloss Urethane. It’s equipped with a Garmin 4000 GPS / Sounder complete with a Raytheon ST6002 P autopilot.
If anyone is interested you can call me at 540-721-3124
Or email me at: mail@rotory.com

Thanks

Sorry to hear that. I looked at those at the SBS and liked the layout, but they are too rich for my blood. For a trailerable boat of that type, the Ranger was FAR superior in design/flow to the Nordic Tug of similiar size.

I have a suspician that the $156,287 price tag is freightening some folks away....

If I wanted a Ranger I would jump on this one!

I agree. Sometimes a premium price is worth it. You get a boat that is thoroughly worked over and upgraded, making it ready to go with confidence; a boat that will serve you well for a lifetime.

I've never had much luck selling things where I asked people to make an offer. My recommendation, FWIW, is for you to set a price so people at least know what the ballpark price is.

I agree with Warren. Expensive boats will still sell in this market but there are not many bidding wars. Best advice for those wanting to sell something right now (including homes, cars, furniture, etc.) is to establish your bottom line price and hit the market at that firm price with the goal of a quick sale. By all means sell the "sizzle" but think of the boat as a commodity unit and detach yourself emotionally. Move the unit quickly. Don't let it get stale on the market or all you'll hear from are "bottom-feeders" and their insultingly low offers. To quote personal finance guru Dave Ramsey: "forget the cheese, let me out of the mousetrap". If you really don't need to sell your boat, then this is definitely not the market to sell in and everyone knows that. Best of luck with your sale and your family situation. Mike.

Great looking boat :thup :thup Great for the PNW or NE, or the Big Lakes. Beautiful. Good luck in the sale and the family finance situation.

Mike, have you had any of the engine start problems that many of the R-25s have had with the Cummins? Lots of info on the Tug-Nuts site about that, not a good thing.

Somewhat typical of any diesel, when it's real cold, it can take a few tries to start. If the temp is over 40-50 degrees it starts right up.

There was an ECM problem with many of them [Cummins] that should have been addressed. They should start instantly or close to it in any weather . If yours hasn't been checked by serial # , you oughta call and see if its one that needs the ECM replaced .Your local dealer should be able to help you with that.

Personally, I think the whole start issue is blown out of proportion on the Rangers, mine always started in a few tries during cold weather and like any diesel starts instantly in warm weather.

I own an excavating company with possibly 20 different diesel engines in equipment and not one will start instantly in cold weather either direct injection, heaters, or otherwise. It's just the nature of diesel since they ignite on compressed fuel / heat and not ignition.

It's simple, the colder it is, the more heat is dissipated to the block.

i'm not interested in purchasing another boat, however having said that, there are things you might consider that would sweeten the deal, for example, are you willing to take a 22' or 25' c-dory in trade, is your boat documented? i have known people who have purchased documented boats and for one reason or another avoided taxes.
the boats absolutely beautiful but in this economy, 129k is a ton of money. you mentioned you have an excavation company. i have several excavation companies insured and they are having a bit of a problem, one company's net income to the owner in 2007 was 240k, and in 2008 was only 40k, huge monthly expense, diesel, loan payments, and payroll. hopefully you are in much better shape than they are.
good luck,
pat

I remember way back when....we would leave our backhoe raised on the front bucket so we had room to build a little camp fire under the oil pan...we sorta prehotted the oven on those cold winter mornings....how about an oil heater stick for when you have shore power available?
