Looking for a boat cover for a 22

Hi there

Looking to order a cover for a 22 cruiser anyone no where to buy and prices. I would like to get a semi custom cover to keep the costs down. I would buy a used one ifs someone has one for sale.

I haven't bought one yet, but that means I've been looking around. The consensus here seems to be that Angola Canvas in Indiana is a very good place to go for a semi-custom cover. They have the patterns for a 22 Cruiser, and you just need to confirm with them if you have special stuff, such as an arch, radar, anchor roller, etc. They have three different fabric types. As I remember it they have Aqualon (less breathable but good if you are in snow country), Sunbrella (very nice of course, although a bit chafe prone), and "poly," which is their budget choice (but some Brats who have it have been well pleased). I think the "poly" may be a bit lighter as well.

There is also the choice of motor cover(s), and those covers attached to the main cover or not.

One thing I will do if I order from them: Their standard cover doesn't fully cover the sheer stripe, so I would ask them to make it a bit longer (they said they would be happy to do this, but you have to ask).

They are in Indiana, but are used to shipping out the covers. If you search on Angola, you'll find quite a few mentions, and can then look in folks' albums to see photos of them. Prices seemed reasonable as compared to a custom cover. You'd have to check with them of course, but as I remember it was something between say, around $6xx and $9xx - just to give you a ballpark.

Of course there are also local places in the PNW I'm sure.

You can ask the moderators (Tyboo or DaNag - just PM one of them) for an album. Once you have an album (will be a link below your name on the left), then you can upload photos from your computer to it - fairly self explanatory, but ask if you need clarification.

Then, you open a given thumbnail in your album (I made myself a bookmark to get to my album), and get the image properties (i.e the web address), usually by right clicking on the image, and then paste that into your post and then put image tags on it ("Img" above).

If that's too bare bones, just ask for more info.

after pricing out covers and talking to the above mentioned makers i decided on a good quality big tarp. I can not remember where on line i got it, but it was around 100$. dark grey uv resistant. and covers the whole boat trailer to trailer and 95% of motors. I do not however take covers on and off. When i put it "away" its for the winter and stays covered for months at a time. but just throwing that out there as this has worked well for us. and is 1/10 the cost.
 
Just a comparison: I have a Poly tarp brown on one side silver on the other side, which I cover the Caracal Cat with (being a cat, with a center console, the tarp fits very well. After about 5 months of use the tarp is shot.

Sitting next to it is the C Dory 22, also on the trailer, and the cover which has been on the boat over a year still looks like new.
 
I store my Venture inside a heated barn during the winter. What I am interested in is a mooring cover which would allow one to tow the boat and keep all the debris off the fiberglass. Comments please. Doug
 
A Sunbrella cover from Angola was quoted to me at about $900 with shipping.

On my previous boat I used the heavy duty UV resistant tarps you can get from HD and the like. I would tailor the tarp myself to fit my boat. My boat was kept outside in No. VA. The tarps would last about a year. I replaced it each year when I winterized the boat so that I would not have to worry about it failing over the winter. For $35 and a couple hours work every year it turned out pretty well. However, my previous boat was quite a bit smaller than my CD22. Doing the same thing for the C-Dory would be a bigger undertaking.

The previous owner of my boat got a pool cover and cut it down to fit the boat. It is very durable and works well. However, it is quite heavy. This pool cover works well as a storage cover, but for daily use it is a big PITA.
