Looking at buying a C-dory

Hi, I'm new to the site I Am looking at buying a small boat from my neighbor. It has been sitting behind his house for as long as I can remember. It says it is a C-Dory on the side and the only other markings are

US coast guard maximum capacity -4 persons or 480lbs
780lbs , persons, motor , and gear
Max hp tiller 35

Any info would be appreciated. I think I will buy it regardless. It's a neat looking boat.

Thanks. Adam

I'll try to get a few pics. The owner had a 15hp motor on it and some bugger stole it some years back. He hasn't used it in years and says he rarely used it even when it did have a motor.

My 16' C-Dory Angler has a plate that says it is rated for four people. I'm thinking it's a 16 foot Angler. I'd pass on it and send me the guys phone number :)

I'll try to get some pictures on here and maybe we can put this to rest.
I can lift the front of the trailer off the ground fairly easy with the boat on the trailer if that helps.

Your 16 can take quite a bit more than a 35hp though can't it?

I really want to see pics of this C-Dory!

I missed that part, Yeah it almost has to be smaller than my 16. I don't know what it is rated for but mine has a 35 on it and I know that most 16s have something a bit larger. I checked the C-Dory site and they recommend 40 hp for a new one.

Thanks Sunbeam. Wasn't sure how to put the picture in the post.

You're welcome. Once you have the photo(s) in your album, you're 75% of the way there. Here are the rest of the steps:

1) Open your album and click on the photo you want to put in your post. Make sure you have it opened to full size, not just the thumbnail. (I do this in a separate window or tab, and have a bookmark to my album to make it handy.)

2) Now, control-click (right click, I believe, if in Windows OS) on the image and select "copy image address" (or if in Windows, I think you select "Properties" and then another click on something about image address or URL). Essentially, you want the image address not the image itself.

3) Then come back into the posting box on your post, and paste in the image address you copied. Do this separately for each image you want in the post.

4) Then, in the posting box, highlight each image address and then go to the upper right and click on "Img" just above the posting box. This will put image tags on the image address. Sometimes when I do this it for some reason orphans the closing tag and I have to get rid of some spaces to get them back together.

5) Preview the post. If the images show up properly, you're in. If they don't, then they won't work in the post either, so look back to see if you can find the problem, and then Preview/rinse/repeat until they look right and then Submit the post.
