Sunbeam, Sea Wolf, Roger, Dan, Larry. (And I may have missed someone), but I have to agree. There is a time and place for real world experience, and a way and a place for us to share, support and soothe as we need. For me, this site has been a place of refuge at times, and I have friends here who have been support along the way. Life is not always fun, nor is the path always smooth but if we remember the just be nice rule, (and it is very rare that it isn't practiced here), then we have a safe place to come and both share and gather support.
There are many on this site who have served in EMS, Law Enforcement, various medical fields, fire fighters, and military who have had similar experiences over the years and these folks share some common bond, and understand the coping necessary. The shared strength helps the individual time and again.
The shock and horror of the events at that school, I wish I could only imagine, and being a responder on that scene will always be in the back of their memories. I think, for us to offer caring, sympathetic, encouraging remarks, in a respectful way, seems fully appropriate for our C-Brat family. I think the "Life's Like That" forum seems like an appropriate place.
For us to acknowledge tragedy, to support each other is what a family does.
Most of us are mature enough to know life is real, in all it's aspects. Being upbeat and positive is a very precious attitude. (Thanks Brent, for a very practical list.)
The other thread about the school incident, it appeared to me, was locked because it was taking a turn into a very negative discussion. Good timing Mike and Bill, and thanks again for all you do to keep this sight the best boating forum on the web, positively.
Sorry, I missed seeing about Roger's flood. Thanks Tom for sharing that, because we all care for one another and in our own way want to do whatever we can to help out a "family" member, be it good thoughts, prayers or come by and help with a pump, bucket or mop.
Thanks again, to my Brat Friends for all your support along the way.
