leaking hydraulic Actuator Assembly

my right Actuator Assembly has developed a small leak when the tab is lowered or raised... it is coming out around the top cap. I realize I can buy a new one... my same model is available on Amazon.

But I was wondering if the Actuator Assembly is removed, is it possible to unscrew the top cap, perhaps, and merely replace a gasket or seal? There is some mention on the bennet website about O-rings and pistons. Anyone try fixing a leak like this before?

Send a PM or e-mail to Tabman Tom works for Bennett, and watches many forums for questions. He has been the "go to" guy. I believe he is still active, although he had some health issues a year or so ago.

You should be able to replace the seals, and Tabman, should get the right kit for you.

Joe,

How old is the Tab system? The first thing to try is to grab the cylinder body and give it a firm clockwise twist to see if that will tighten and compress the upper hinge O-ring and stop the leak. If that does not work send me your name and address and we can send you new O-rings and instuctions how to change them, no charge.

Yes, the cylinder rotates around the shaft. No need to remove it from the Tab.

Let me know what you find.

I am pleased to report that just twisting the actuator body slightly tightened up the seal and there is no longer any evidence of a leak... thanks a lot to Tom!
