Kayak racks over pilot house

I think the top can support 2 eddyline kayaks and 2 stand up paddleboards?
any feedback appreciated! So I am installing my 96" yakima bars on the crome jobbies going along the top sides. I will then add the kayak racks on each end and in the middle take a piece of pvc slightly larger installed on the bar in the middle to act as a roller for the stand up paddle boards to get them up there from back area..I will also have yakima roller bars on the rear bar ends to facilatate getting the kayaks up on top from the rear. I think the boat is around a little less than 96" so I shoud be o.k. going down the road and should get a lot of attention. I like attention ..ha....so we will use the boat as a home base to explore all of lake powell in the kayaks and SUP...at 73 with our 1st boat a plant based diet and exercise will ad 10 years to our C-Dory lifestyle...just got our boat home to Ivins and under cover..whew ....a 5 year journey our dream is fulfilled. We are reading River Horse now and expect to see some of you on lake powell for the entire month of September! Cheers
 
When going down the road, be sure to put lines on fore and aft from the kayaks to keep wind from lifting them. This is on a 25, but kayaks on top works fine...

yes thank you about the saftley lines because our kayaks are 15' long and will have to be going forward nearly to the front in order not to interfere with the canopy in back...already wishing it was a 25' ha ha ha. I may need a front stabilizer but really I don't like messing with things because I think the 22 cruiser is a work of art!
 
Easy does it,

Many miles of over the road travel with singles, doubles, sometimes three full size kayaks up top. And never lost a boat ... over the road. My only near loss was on a pot holed monster logging road.

And the stresses and loads on the highway are minimal compared to what kayak racks experience atop a power vessel on rough water. I strongly suggest you double down on each attachment point between boat and rack, and especially rack to vessel with lockable figure eights of stainless cable, Nicopressed. If something fails, you want a leash to keep those kayaks and their racks with the boat until you can reach calmer water to reattach things.

One caveat: We have horizontal racks that extend to the width of the cabin sides on our C-22. We once took 4 kayaks on the rack in the fairly open waters near the north end of Vancouver Island; I felt that the stability of the boat was compromised by that much weight up high on a boat as light as a C-22. At the least resist the temptation to load gear into the kayaks.
 
We have carried two kayaks and a inflatable on the 22 and the 27 for years. Nothing more then ratcheted tie down straps over each. Get them as tight as you can and they will not move. did not notice any " top heavy" handling problems with the boats when under way. But with as much supplies as susan has in the bottom of the boat I think I can carry a 16 cd as a dinghy and not have any problems. I have to use my depth finder to locate my center of gravity.
 
We carry a pair of kayaks on the top of our 22. I have the Yakina bars that came with the boat and modified them with saddle mounts on the front and foam mounts on the back. I also tie down fronts of the kayaks. No problems on either the water or the road. Getting them on and off the boat is the biggest challenge. I wear a safety harness to that I can tie up to the side rails as I raise and lower the kayaks. I allows me to use both hands without fear of falling off. Check my photo album for pictures.
