Joining the C-Dory's

My husband and I have been reading the posts and researching the C-Dory's. We were hesitant because we love to fish and have heard that the C-Dory does not do well out in the big ocean. Due to a gentleman's post from Ventura, he changed our minds. We will be picking up our Dory this Thursday and are extremely excited!!!!

Thank you everyone for posting all the great information about these boats!

Welcome Kevin and Randi. How exciting to be picking up a C-Dory. This group is cantankerous, obnoxious, helpful, knowledgeable and generally fun to be around. By all means try to make contact and come to one of the gatherings and never hesitate to ask any questions. You may get a few surly answers from time to time but it's always with the best of intentions.

We are in Northern California and were wondering if there are ever any gatherings near or on Shasta Lake, Ca. If not we will be looking for the next local one and try to get out to introduce nameless C-Dory. Look forward to talking with everyone and reading all the posts.

Kevin and Randi,
Welcome to C-Brats and to C-Dory ownership! You are most fortunate to be in N. Calif. because one of our most extremely helpful C-Brats lives in Redding and keeps his C-Dory at Lake Shasta. (Joe) (Sea Wolf).
I don't recall any recent gatherings at Lake Shasta but I did trailer my former 16' C-Dory several years ago for a gathering on Lake Shasta.

We are at Lake Almanor....Just pulled the boat out this evening...to do a bit of repair and start packing for the trip to Lake Powell.....

Enjoy your new boat...we sure do..

Welcome to the Brats - And congrats on your new boat. We know you love fishing, but these boats make a wonderful home for cruising also so, if you have some time off, consider a cruising vacation on your 'nameless.' Great way to holiday.

Welcome aboard, Kevin and Randi! If you don't have a gathering near you, you can always start one of your own... C-Dory owners are an active lot and always looking for a reason to explore a new area.

Enjoy the new boat!

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Welcome to the crowd. The 22' CD is a fine fishing boat and many a fish has met his maker in the cockpit of mine (and many other CD-22s). As has already been indicated, start your own C-Brat gathering at Shasta. Even if just you and Joe show up, it's a gathering.

hey kevin and randi,
congrats on the new purchase! when you have a chance give us more details on boat equipment, engines, electronics, trim color and interior items. always fun seeing how these boats have been modified. it's a great group you're joining. be sure to post often and feel right at home correcting any of us who have error in our post. we all enjoy the wealth of info found on this site.
at my earliest convenience i will drink a cold beer in your honor.
best regards
pat

Kevin and Randi,

Welcome to the world of C-Dory ownership and this fine pub. One thing I would suggest, I think it was alluded to in the other thread, would be to add a camperback. It opens up the whole boat by adding another "room" to the boat. Especially since your cabin is smaller, I think you'll really appreciate the addition. I know we feel as though the camperback may be our best of the many add-ons we made to the boat.

I CANNOT believe the welcome!!! As soon as we get the boat in our driveway we will post pictures and the info!
All the posts in the last 24 hours has my husband and I so excited!!! We stayed up til 1am trying to come up with a name, and of course we are still working on it.
Thanks again for the warm welcomes and can't wait to start sharing stories!!!!

Kevin and Randi

We welcome you folks also. In looking at others past experiences and ours a C-Dory is the one boat(in it's size range) you do want to be in when in the big water or it gets rough. So congrats on your new boat and welocme to the Family.

As a pod of C-Brats, we've been known to offer boat name suggestions....however, the answers provided would be at your own risk... . (Seriously, suggestions have been helpful to those seeking input....you just have to post some of the sample names you've come up with so far, in order to give guidance to your thoughts).

Kevin and Randi-

Welcome to the C-Dory /C-Brats Family!

I talked with you, Randi, on the phone this morning, and hope to see you both over here in Redding to look at my boat and discuss C-Dorys this evening.

Sounds like you got a great deal on your newish C-Dory 22 Angler with 13 hours on the engine(s)!

Talk to you more, very soon!

Joe. :teeth :thup

1AM? Ha! It took a year and a half for us to come up with a name for ours. :)

Congrats -- and welcome to the club.

Did anyone tell you about the secret handshake yet? :)

Im cracking up right now

I dont know if ya'll ever read other boat forums, but when looking for boats we came across a bunch of forums referring to the C-Dory squad as "Pods". If you see one, there will be more behind it!

So, hopefully someone will show us the "hand-shake" so we don't look like the outcasts! LOL
