It's so cute..Aarrgh!!! :twisted: In two months we put over 200 miles (GPS Recorder) exploring the Broughton Islands, Desolation Sound and the San Juans with Pocket Yacht this summer and every where we went it was the same. :roll: I wish people would just say, "That's a nice looking boat." :evil:

Adding another eye at the water line solved the towing problem and she follows along nicely, even when you're doing 17 knots+ through Yuculta Rapids after missing slack by an hour and a half. *Note to self: Don't do that again. As for cruising (40 hp), top 28 knots for flat water, all day at 15 knots and 10 knots is comfortable when its choppy. Going to try the upper Skagit for Humpies Weds. :smiled Jack

That's what I hear the most too. Most people around here seem to have never seen a real boat before. I've even had people hang in my blind spot for 5 minutes going down the highway only to pull up along side and yell, yep , you guessed it! It is rather amazing though, how many people want to spend time questioning me about the boat at the launch, at the gas station at toll booths...
 
I hear the same thing at the boat ramp all the time. My son is tired of waiting while I talk to people about the boat. "Lets just go fish" he says.

Could be the way we name our boats too. We do have fairly "cute" and "diminutive" names too. Maybe we need to come up with more "aggressive" names for our boats?
 
We don't mind at all. We can't take the boat out 1 day without at least 5 comments about it. At the gas pump, dock, in route, vacation, by the sheriff, county patrol, coast guard, border patrol, people on piers, etc... And of course people want to see and pet our beagles. In Michigan, there are so few C-Dorys, people have to check them out. All you guys on the coastal states probably can see 3 just by looking out your back door. Keep the cute comments coming.
 
I heard it a thousand times just this weekend at the Tampa Boat Show ............... Turns out Ranger Tugs are "cute" too.

When we hear the "cute" comments (and we heard those a bunch with our little catboat sailboat), I like to say, "We think of it as a very MANLY boat." It helps the illusion to pump up your chest a bit, too. 8)

I'm OK with "cute."

When "Cute" came out of my wife's mouth I knew the boat was mine. She was in no hurry to buy another boat until she actually saw a C-Dory.

Every time we take it out someone wants to see the boat and usually cute is used to describe it.

Ain't it great?
 
Here's a little tip on how to use the C-Dory charm to your advantage. Works up here in WA, anyway...

We called for a final inspection on our place last week. The first guy that came by, nit-picked several minor items, many of which were bogus...but it was easier to address them to his liking, rather than fight.

Anyway, the next guy comes out for our second crack at getting the permit signed off. I had Da Nag sitting by the side of the barn this time, having just cleaned her up. As I drag the inspector over to one of the items on the checklist I had addressed, he barely looks at it...instead, he says:

"Yeah, that's nice - but let's talk about this boat."

We talked C-Dory for about 10 minutes, after which we received a hassle-free permit sign off.

Not unusual. C-Dorys are guy magnets just like Bichons and Shih Tzus are chick magnets. Use 'em if ya got 'em. :wink

Bill - here's another tip for future inspections. I learned this from an old timer in the construction business. Leave a couple of things that are obvious (but easy to fix) undone. Some inspectors feel like they HAVE to find SOMETHING to justify their existence. So if you leave a couple of obvious and easy to fix things for them to find, their needs are filled and you don't get them looking so hard for to find some bogus thing.
 
There is just no getting around the 16's are cute. I have a 16 cruiser and hear it all the time. Mine has all the big boy toys on it. Radar, auto pilot, outriggers, downriggers, fishfinder, 5 hp kicker and have put close to 300 miles in one day on her without refueling. She has been to places 25 footers have never been or would never go, but she is definitly cute.
 
Yeah, well, try toodling past the Everett Navy Base at break time! All the hard hats are lining the rail and giving us the thumbs up while turning their backs on all those big grey ships of the line. Even the seals on the green bouy honk at us. You'd think it's the Betty Grable instead of the Lizzie!
 
I heard "My, what a cute little boat!" so many times on my great loop, I extended her name from "Na Waqa" to "Na Waqa Lailai Totoka" which means "Cute Little Boat" In Fijian.
